I have a turkey ,saved from being a Christmas dinner when she was around 9 months old, she is now nearly 9 years old ,a bit stiff but she still enjoys life with her chicken friends . 19/04/23 She's still alive and eating well ,i checked her birth date and it was 2011 ,so she's 12.
  • I learned so much about turkeys through this video. Didn’t know they could retract the hanging skin on their face, neither did I know they could change color.

When I was younger, my grandparents bought a live turkey for Thanksgiving, but when it came time to harvest, my grandmother cried, and she couldn't do it. She instead named it Herbert, and Herbert lived on her farm for years. Lol Man, I miss that woman.

I never knew their head changed colours like that! Thanks for sharing and for giving him so much extra time on earth ❤

It is incredible to see how all animals (wild and domesticated) thrive when they are truly loved. And how much more they give us.

Animals understand us better than we understand ourselves. They change us for the better when we are kind to them.

Same story for my brother. Bought two turkey chicks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The turkeys used to walk up the hill to his house when he and my sister-in-law would be sitting on the porch. The birds would chuckle and cluck and then hop up on their laps so nestle down for a nap. Needless to say, they both died of old age.

Well I hope she reads this- my family has turkey hunters in it. They all vowed that they will never turkey hunt again. We all thought Turkeys were unintelligent. The Canadian turkeys thank you- I’m sharing this with everyone. It has touched my family’s hearts.

I think a woman on a moped with a turkey is the coolest thing ever.

If only more people had hearts as big as hers, there would be world peace at last. I learned so much about turkeys from this video. I had no idea about the changing of colours, or about their snood.
  • What a wonderful Lady! The world would be a better place with more people like her!!!!❤🌹🇮🇹🇬🇧
  • Rose thank you so much for sharing your story. When I was a young girl, my father used to raise turkeys, and we had a hen that wouldn’t sit on her eggs so being in the sixth grade and studying science, I decided to bring the eggs inside and hatch them. There was only one that hatched, and it was a gobbler. I raised the gobbler till he was full grown. He was the most loving, precious pet that I have ever had. He would come and sit in my lap, nestling his beak under my arm. He would follow me around in the yard, he was very smart. Unfortunately my father decided to stop raising turkeys gave sold them. I was devastated. I missed and loved him so much. The man who bought the turkeys from my Dad called him back several weeks later and told him he had one that he thought was sick. He said it was a gobbler and that he just laid around in the corner or the pen and wouldn’t eat or drink. When we went to his farm, we had discovered that it was my Mr. gobbler. He was grieving himself to death for me. I begged daddy to please let me bring him back home, he did, but unfortunately he had let him go to long before we knew what was happening and I lots my little buddy. Every since then I have had a strong connect with birds. They are truly beautiful creatures from God, many do not ever get to see that side of them. It is amazing, and I will never forget him. 😊❤
  • I saved a little girl turkey and she bonded with me. She lived for about 19 years. I miss her everyday. She and I were inseparable. I loved your story,
  • @decker8202
My neighbor had a turkey who was so curious and sweet. When my son would come to do work around my place the turkey would follow him around until he knelt down and then the turkey would stick his head under my son's arm. He wanted to cuddle!
  • People hardly think how other animals are smart and loving, and just avoid their suffering. Bravo to this woman!
  • His head changing color according to his mood is fascinating. I had no idea turkeys could shorten and lengthen their swag--I think that's what you called it. All animals are capable of affection if only given a chance. I hope when people see you with him they reconsider when it comes to eating them. We humans are so entitled we think everything belongs to us to do with what we want.

If you are a person who befriends animals, and see's them for the individual creatures filled with personality that they are, you are one of humanity's treasures.
  • @StyxDescension
Used to own three elderly turkeys when I was a kid, they were surprisingly intelligent, very affectionate and very playful. I miss them a ton, they made my childhood great.
  • @dlewis1921
You are amazing! Thank you for taking care of this creature. For anyone who questions whether animals can feel “emotions,” just take a look at these videos and the kind, compassionate people who step in to help these animals in need, and watch the relationship that blossoms when we care for something other than ourselves!
  • @leongatha6
I learned a lot about turkeys--their snoods are variable and they change colors. Thx. Also, that any species of animal responds with love to love and caring.
