    Well you see, lava in real life is actually partially the same speed. You see, lava has this thing called "flow resistance" which explains itself, but it is flow resistant because of the melted lava, which actually if the lava is underground is called "Magma" not lava. Lava is only called lava when the magma reaches to the Earth's crust and out of the mantle (where all the magma is in) and if magma is has not yet come out of the magma and some force makes it go deeper (like in minecraft how you randomly dog and then you break a block exposing the magma) which means the magma is actually not so resistant since there's no wind to cool down the lava/magma into a solid form, thus making the magma impressively non resistant when under ground. Holy crap I'm so sorry that I just went nerd on you.
