I had the pleasure of taking care of her in the 1980's . I was a salesgirl at Bloomingdale's in NYC. She was a very nice ,polite and not in the least bit demanding or pretentious . She was shopping like any ordinary shopper. She was shopping for bathing suits at the time. As you would imagine, it was an inspiring experience for me , as a young girl. Despite having taken care of an elite clientele, she was the most memorable.
  • As a little girl in Boston I wrote to her expressing my condolences at the death of JFK. She sent me a note and enclosed a picture which I treasure to this day. She epitomizes class. There will never be another like her.

She always spent time with her kids. She knew how to be a mom. I so respect that.
  • I realize, now, that my gifted mother made me many copies of Jacqueline’s dresses and suits. I always felt like a queen wearing them.
  • Such sweet days back then, and we've been plummeting every since.

She was the epitome of grace, intelligence, beauty, class - a role model in every way.

She was a huge help in saving Grand Central Station. I though shed personally chain herself to the building , before shed see it demolished. Historic preservation was her thing , and her knowledge base was unmatched.

She was gifted in so many ways. She was so elegant and classy, but she also had a sweet soul. Never arrogant. I admire her for the job she made in the White House. She showed a generous spirit in inviting the people to tour their House. She loved her husband and pardoned his affaires. A fine lady , devouted wife and mother. A prominent figure of american history. We all should admire her gifts and talents, because she showed how much she loved to serve her husband, family and country. Please stop those comments that despise such a great lady. She deserves respect, not envy.

Her children’s comment that -she cared more about people than institutions - has made me admire her more than ever
  • When she worked for Bantam, Doubleday, Dell they were located in the lower floors at 1540 Broadway, I got into an elevator with her. I said 'hello, are you having a good day?' She replied with that million dollar smile 'Why yes I am and you?' I replied 'I'm on my way to the cafeteria for lunch', she smiled again and said 'Yes so am I'...As the elevator reached the floor, she turned to me and smiled...I have admired her since that horrific day they murdered her husband...what a strong woman indeed.
  • I just love how eclectic and homey her apartment was. She went through so much in her life. What a wonderful mother she was through everything.

Lovely. My husband and Templesman were business partners, in the African diamond business, and he had the occasion to meet him in her apartment when she was present. She was extremely polite and served everyone tea.

I have read two biographies of Jackie, and they both portrayed her as an extraordinary woman. It wasn’t her wealth or her education that made her extraordinary; it was her elegance and kindness.

What a caring tribute to such a fine lady. We'll always love and remember you Jackie.
  • Grace and class. Always. Something we don't see very often in today's society.
  • @kathya1321
Interesting that today some first ladies try to emulate her 'style' by wearing similar fashion... but she was so much more than that. The class she exuded was just so genuine, human and sincere and it can never be duplicated. Never.
  • Thank you for this tour. I adored Jackie O. She was a true New Yorker she added class to the city.
  • Beautiful look into one of the best iconic First Ladies . I love that she shared stories of history with her children.
  • @marknolan4599
Class all the way. You can't buy class, your born with it. Jackie will always be remembered for that.
  • She was born on July 28, 1929 and died on May 19, 1994. It is a shock to see that she died so young by today's standards, after having lived such a noteworthy life as a truly devoted mother, presidential wife, art historian, book editor, cultural icon, ... and the list of her achievements goes on! What intelligence God gifted her with, and what a gift she has been to the world! Deo gratias!
