And people wonder why I can't fully turn my back on this sequence.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought this when I first saw it.

I like how one of the aliens on the right is just a sock puppet
-
Why is the shot from Wings cropped at the wrong aspect ratio ?
-
How did you shoot that scene in 1927?
-
Also the glasses are both similar !
-
is that two transment at: 0:20 ??
-
bro how the fuck did you just screen record a film and get 40k views
-
If I have kids I will show them the last Jedi and skip the casino scene
-
I went to take a piss when this scene came on
-
Canto Bight subplot is crap.

My reason for calling Rian Johnson's version an amateur shot is because it called the audience's attention to the director's skill and away from the story. It's like the director is saying "look how clever I am! I know Wings!" The original Star Wars used a camera language of the old classic movie serials of wipes. Johnson's camerawork was a big awkward departure from the original editing design.

I caught it immediately in the theater. It felt like the vain indulgence of a college film student director....It was so amateur. I was near ready to walk out the theater at this point.
