It's great to see you guys working on this together. My wife told me to tell her when it was done. I'd like to know how it's holding up. Here's some things I did, based upon YT videos back in 2020. I used Krud Kutter to remove the film from the galvanized metal, and to etch the surface so paint will stick. I used Zinser Bullseye 123 primer with a blue tint added to paint the floor and walls. I also coated the bottom of the tank with black-tar foundation coating to protect the metal from rusting against the earth. So far no rust, but each year, I have a few spots that have peeled down to the etched metal... they are smaller than a business card. The floor gets scratched up by my shop-vac when I clean it out each season, and also by a step-stool we keep in the water to help the little kids get out. During off-seasons, I keep an all-season sump pump in the pool to keep the water level below an inch . I cannot flip the pool over... I built a deck all the way around it.

Needing an update on performance of SW epoxy paint on your pool. It is holding up? Any sign of paint not sticking after being filled with water for a period of time?
  • @BillyTynes
How has it held up? Did it ever start to chip off?
  • @Lorraineolmo
Hi guys, are you going to do an update on the stock tank pool ?
  • @Mdnssb
Is it safe to soak in a painted pool? Aren't there a ton of toxins? Thanks. We're debating painting or tiling the ST

Does anyone know if I get the stock tank new, does it require any sanding before applying the Sherwin Williams epoxy paint?

Hey, great video! Y’all are the first I’ve seen not using FlexSeal, yay! Could you possibly share a link to the epoxy?? Thanks so much...
  • how has it held up now? I would've added a blue tint to it myself (what I want to do with mine).. How much is that stuff, please?
  • Hi I wonder does it prevent rust after applying the paint? I had my stock tank for a year and recently it starts rusting and I am looking for paint to prevent rusting. Thank you.
  • Just curious...is there a reason y'all went with the SW epoxy and not Pond Shield?
  • @dangerdave22
Before you installed the SW epoxy, did you sand down the factory caulking used at the seams? And did the epoxy coating require a primer?
  • How"s the paint doing now after a couple years? Just got my stock tank from marketplace and am thinking it would be great to be painted.
  • Hi Emily. You said it is two different parts its the Sherman Williams Epoxy mixed with what? Thanks!
  • I was thinking about doing this for my tiny home bathtub. Did it hold up, its been 3 years?
  • Did y’all sand the stock tank with a heavy grit and work your way to a fine grit before applying flex seal we did it to ours and it’s been good for 3 years no problems but ours is indoors. Inside our covered back patio. I sprayed flex seal on my tuck to cover up the Crome and with in a month it came off. Second time I sanded it and reapply it and it worked great
  • How has the paint job with Sherwin-williams epoxy held up after a year?? are you happy with the product overall and would you recommend it? do you remember what it cost per gallon? and the additive how much? Thanks! Does it come in colors?
  • You have the link for the gallon of paint but what is the smaller can you have mixed in? Thanks!
  • @meuass
What did you use to clean your tub with, before you used the flex seal? I'm thinking of doing like 4-5 layers on a 2x4 shower tub. Also thinking of doing a couple layers of bedliner first. It's really just for showers
  • The sanding and prep is where people are failing. They're afraid to damage the galvanizing. But, don't get that the coating will replace it. Coatings need a good 80 grit to grab on to a surface. So far. Most people dont coat the outside either. The tank will fail. Galvanizing is not a guarantee
