All we know is that we are counting down the days until we can see Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney perform this on Broadway. www.hadestown.com

I love how in this production, Orpheus is like “I can’t believe this is actually happening to me” and Eurydice is like “What is this?? Feelings??”

i love how at the end they were deciding if they should kiss or not and then the audience started clapping and they were like “frick well i guess it’s too late now”

I love the way that Reeve fills up not having anything to do during Eva's solo with looking like he wants to say something and deciding not to and just looking at her like she lit the stars. It's perfect :D

When eva sang "Say that you'll hold me forever Say that the wind won't change on us Say that we'll stay with each other And it'll always be like this" I just started bawling 😭😭😭😭

[EURYDICE] I was alone so long I didn’t even know that I was lonely Out in the cold so long I didn’t even know that I was cold Turned my collar to the wind This is how it’s always been All I’ve ever known is how to hold my own All I’ve ever known is how to hold my own But now I wanna hold you, too You take me in your arms And suddenly there’s sunlight all around me Everything bright and warm And shining like it never did before And for a moment I forget Just how dark and cold it gets All I’ve ever known is how to hold my own All I’ve ever known is how to hold my own But now I wanna hold you Now I wanna hold you Hold you close I don’t ever wanna have to let you go Now I wanna hold you, hold you tight I don’t wanna go back to the lonely life [ORPHEUS] I don’t know how or why But who am I that I should get to hold you But when I saw you all alone against the sky It’s like I’d known you all along I knew you before we met And I don’t even know you yet All I know is you’re someone I have always known [BOTH] All I know is you’re someone I have always known And I don’t even know you Now I wanna hold you, hold you close I don’t wanna ever have to let you go Now I wanna hold you, hold you tight I don’t wanna go back to the lonely life [EURYDICE] Say that you’ll hold me forever Say that the wind won’t change on us Say that we’ll stay with each other And it’ll always be like this [ORPHEUS] I’m gonna hold you forever The wind will never change on us As long as we stay with each other [BOTH] Then it will always be like this

I love Hadestown, and while it's not my favorite song from the show (there are SO MANY amazing ones) and tbh I usually don't go for hetero love songs, I actually like All I've Ever Known. I like that Eurydice's hesitance isn't because of cliched shyness or modesty, but because it's a post-apocalypse, life is hard, trust & love are harder, she's used to being tough & independent. (btw SPOILERS ahead) And I like how the lyrics echo other parts of the show. When Orpheus says "who am I to hold you?" it kinda foreshadows the doubts he'll feel (via the Fates) in Wait for Me I & II ("who are you to think you can walk a road that no one's ever walked before?" / "who are you to think you can hold your head up higher than your fellow man?"). when both Orpheus & Eurydice say they've known each other forever even though they've just met, it reminds me how Orpheus was singing the story of Hades & Persephone falling in love before he actually knew that tale, and more generally of the show itself. This is not the first time Hermes has told their (Orpheus/Eurydice) story... it's an "old song," but maybe next time it'll turn out differently... And I even love the bittersweet tragedy of it. They make promises to each other in this song that were heartfelt but impossible. When they admit their flaws and broken promises to each other (in Promises) it's a moment of growth for both characters. Together, these songs set up a love that isn't perfect or even "happily ever after," but is so much more real and relatable for it... uh yeah. thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, lol! I literally can't stop thinking about Hadestown!
