I laughed so hard when Piccolo said, “Why can I see his sound effects?” 😂😂🤣

It's tough to beat the masterclass example of filmmaking, writing, and acting that is Dragonball: Evolution.

I did like Pan saying, "You said dad could one day be stronger than grandpa!" Piccolo's reaction to that was great.

The characterization of Pan in this movie is perfect and actually gets me excited for the future of the franchise and developing her character along with the rest of the younger cast of Dragonball.

I love how they are giving some love back to piccolo and Gohan, both were my favorite characters from DBZ

The lower stakes, and more focus on the mundane slice of life stuff with all of these forgotten characters, made the movie have a kind of cozy vibe. It had a Saturday morning cartoon feel to it, and there was a lot of good comedy. Also a lot of great visual gags that were constantly happening in the background if you're paying attention. I loved following Piccolo running errands for everyone, really felt like a throwback to the old days
  • I really love how this movie focused on the Piccolo & Gohan relationship. I didn’t expect to fall in love with the Gammas as much as I did. I think the best thing about the 3D is that the animators took a step back from that ultra fast fist fighting that we’re used to, they actually had to use technique/slams for the whole fight which was just cool to see from DBZ.

From interviews sounds like Toriyama had allot of fun working on this one. Hope the series learns from what made this movie work and continue down that track.
  • I totally agree. I felt like Gohan had so much potential and I loved him in the Cell saga. Glad to see him getting some more attention in this movie.

Saw it recently and really liked it , it’s the interactions that they nail in this movie. It’s not the Goku-show in this movie and hopefully they realise both in manga and anime as well that developing , giving time to shine to other characters is worth it. People accept Vegeta winning , people like the focus on other things other then Goku mastered something new or … let’s give out energy to goku so he can finish it. This movie proved you can make a really successful story on other characters. I would love to see a movie with focus on Vegeta , Prince or all Saiyans, interactions between Vegeta , trunks , Bulma and ofc his rivalry with goku. Much can be told from the perspective of Vegeta. Unlike Goku Vegeta is more so the family man.

This movie felt like a catch up for Gohan and Piccolo to me. We’ve seen in Super that no one can keep up with Goku and Vegeta, even the manga is like that. But now hopefully in the next film we can finally get Z Fighters that can keep up against the villain where Goku and Vegeta don’t need to be the only useful characters.

I was a huge fan of the meta-humor and the constant references to how much time has passed, etc., as a way to make the older audience feel more comfortable with some of the changes and to let the newer audience be aware of the things that happened before some of them were even born. They handle this extremely well and I’m very happy of some of the callbacks and the fact that other people got the spotlight for a while.
  • As a lifelong fan of DB, DBZ, DBGT, and DBS, a drastic change in art style is something I've just come to expect and roll with. They've changed art styles more times than main characters have died and come back to life. Do I have a favorite? Why yes I do! Cell and Majin Buu arc animation was top-tier in my book.

I was personally blown away by the story choice of this film! The 3D animation didn't blow my mind but this was the movie I've always wanted to see... And to know the fact that this movie will influence the main story is exciting!!!
  • @Blynat
They wanted to make a movie that felt more like Dragon Ball with a sprinkle of Super Not a DBZ movie. I like the heart and the comedy. Pan screaming for help when she didn't need it was funny, sad and just great when you know how Gohan will react.
  • This positive review will make DBS SUPER HERO more mainstream 😭😭😭 Everyone will see Gohan in all his glory, so glad you covered it. Most people were turned off by the 3D but if you give it a chance it's shockingly heartwarming.

I LOVE that the gave Piccolo more of the spotlight! He’s my favorite character and he gets HOSED as the series goes on! They’ve given Goku and Vegeta more than enough attention!
  • Man...as much as I loved Super: Broly, Super Hero actually gave me more of what I love from Dragon Ball. "OG" Dragon Ball is my favorite of the bunch, so I enjoyed the villains and the genuinely sillier moments. Piccolo and Gohan are my favorite Dragon Ball characters, so seeing them take the spotlight was fantastic, and Pan having a prominent role was great also. I also love the secondary characters like Bulma, Krillin, and 18. I'm also glad to see Goten and Trunks finally aged up in this Super era. Gamma 1 and 2 stole the show, and are the types of Ginyu Force/Saiyaman -style characters Toriyama does so well. While Broly is overall more pleasing from a pure action and animation standpoint, I found myself mostly loving the 3D animation here, especially during energy auras and attacks. Ultimately, Super Hero had a more fulfilling story and the fun character interactions that I love to get in Dragon Ball.
  • Wow, as a lifelong DB fan I cannot be more on the opposite side of the fence. I loved Broly, but this was by far a Superior movie to me. This has been my favorite DB movie by far, and I loved the 3D.

I'm digging the animation a lot, it has a video game feel to it. I actually love the style, it's rare and it should be done more often. I enjoy 2d animation as well but this one looks really cool
