Sean Strickland was virtually untouchable versus Israel Adesanya. Here we'll see him spar the 15-0 undefeated mma prodigy Johnny Eblen.

Seans basically the default character of MMA, as cringe as that sounds. uses a little bit of everything in striking but mainly punches. can grapple when needed.

Mindsmash is so braindead he thought dc playing around with Alex was a serious grappling match 😂

Dude he was sparring threw exactly 9 punches and one kicks. It’s easy to be “elusive” when your opponent isn’t engaging.

Mindsmash: "Elusiveness is his emphasis." Me: nods head in proud approval

It's great seeing Sean using knees and teep here. Also, we love Sean because we get to see him sparring leading up to his fights and he spars anybody. Yeah Sean is very elusive, he reads fighters so well. People felt Izzy looked slow and that's because Sean read him like a book..he was like a shadow Izzy's strikes. Look at what Sean can do with just his hands and imagine what he can do if he opens that tool box and actually is very skilled in those aspects..and the thing is, he is. He's just gotta not be stubborn and fall into a macho slugfest with Costa. Costa loves fighting that way but Costa also loses a lot. Sean goes to decision often, so he has to remember the optics and better yet, once his opponents are clearly tired he needs to take them down and submit them rather than chasing for that KO. By the way, this is bellator's current middleweight champ..who just won against the PFL champ for the SUPER BELT. haha So that's why there's onlookers. This is very cool and Sean looks to be doing very well. They spar often.

Because he looks awkward and goofy, standing tall and jabbing straight, people ignore Strickland's awesome defensive/evasive striking.

I feel like he is open for a jab jab to over hand right combo because of how far he leans back
  • @TAO502
He was hit the whole time 😂
  • Not gonna lie, for the first 2 years of watching your videos, my daughter and I went back and forth on if your voice was AI. 😂

Good sparring, he did get touched multiple times though.

I wish sean would sort of adopt a half philly shell and transition to a standard boxing stance. He's said repeatedly he doesn't like getting hit in the face, but the problem is it costed him the DDP fight. In the last round he really let it go and took risks and got hit but also got some damage out, but he needs to understand its OK to be knocked out by Alex, the philly shell is a great offense because you can walk people toward the cage, but when they have nowhere to go I think he should get rid of the philly shell and switch traditional so he can really get some extra power in his hands and cause more damage. I get part of his allure is being able to throw from weird angles and can read your muscles very well. Philly shell at range for offense/defense, then when he gets in the pocket he should go traditional and get some power. He just needs to trust his chin more and take some more risks. You can't throw a perfect check hook, uppercut, or overhand counter in that stance without telegraphing. He's essentially countering what YOUR throwing with straights and crosses because those are always faster than hooks.

Yeah, it's a sparring match at half speed for training purposes & Strickland's partner there looks a little tired.
