I played the beta. Could get a more fun pirate experience by filling up my bathtub, folding some paper boats and attacking them with the shower head. My favourite feature is when the inanimate sails run out of stamina or the fact that the outposts look like toy villages from your ship.

It's actually based on the sound of the first letter of the word, you use A when the word begins with a consonant sound, and AN when it begins with a vowel sound, it has nothing to do with the actual first letter of the word. For example, you would say "an honest opinion" or "that man is a usurper".
