INCREDIBLE RECOVERY - Container Rolled Down Hill

Published 2024-08-05
INCREDIBLE RECOVERY - Container Rolled Down Hill. Another week with another difficult container rollover! Would never be fun if it was easy and this one was a challenge for obvious reasons. Loaded, tight space and fighting the incline from the hill all had their own challenges yet Alex was up to the task and knocked it out the park.

We got this call by Jonas from Kustom Tow, who had both his wreckers on scene. As you'll see in this video, while wreckers are amazing machinery they just can't compete with the speed and versatility of a rotator. Just being able to rotate the boom with the stability of the outriggers makes it a true work horse in the right hands.

Together, Alex and Jonas got this back up the hill and upright so the customer can haul it away in his tractor. Originally it was said that the driver failed to do a "tug test" and that's how the container came off the tractor and rolled through the gate and down the hill. Not only are you willing to assist Jonas, but you are to be commended or teaching him the correct way to do things. Kindness always works.
  • I just found this channel a month ago, and I have learned SO MUCH about the world of towing and recovery... it's my dream to eventually get the hell out the trucking industry and get into wrecker-ops, and I don't think I could possibly find a better guide than Pepe's. Yall really are the absolute pinnacle of this.

It’s amazing how Alex teaches old timers with a good attitude. I just think it would how have been more efficient with PePes team of rotators.
  • You have to admire the presence that Alex possesses so other capable operators respect his suggestions. OH how I wish I could have viewed the action as the container tipped over and slid down the hill. This was a very interesting recovery. Thanks to the operators and to Josh for the editing and posting.
  • @barbannco
you are a star Alex...... a worker and a teacher with much patience.
  • And that's why always doing tug tests is so important. It's so simple and easy, so why do some drivers skip it? Oh well, it keeps Alex busy, and Alex is an artiste with Big Flipper. Like Josh, he sees all the geometry and all the forces. Thanks for the video.

Alex, awesome awesome team work. I have done many jobs in my 70 plus years. The greatest pleasure was passing on my experiences to others. 👏👏
  • Alex is the man, I am not sure he was there to teach Jonas but his vast experience doing this it was natural, kindly guiding Jonas along without ever making him feel stupid. Great teaching Alex and great recovery to both of you

There is no substitute for the feeling and sound when my tractor gets hooked up with a trailer. That tractor driver was a rookie.
