So Samsung just quietly launched this new rectangular watch, and now that I’ve been using it for about two weeks, I actually love it, which makes you wonder, why did Samsung keep this launch so quiet? Also, when I first opened it, I had a ton of questions, like does it run WearOS, how accurate is it, how did Samsung manage to make the battery last 13 days?

ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES:
So this is the brand new Samsung Galaxy Fit3. A name that some enthusiasts may recall from their old smart band lineup from several years ago. But unlike the old Galaxy Fit or Fit2, this device actually competes head to head with the Galaxy Watch6 in many regards. It has over 100 tracked activities, it has the full Samsung health app, it has a 1.6” AMOLED display, sleep tracking, weather, media controls, remote shutter, and much more. Oh, and did I mention, it’s only $65?

So let’s start with that question about the operating system. Does this run WearOS?

Well, no. Samsung made their own operating system here which allows for a much longer battery life despite the large display and constant biometric tracking.

Showcase the UI
Movement reminders
Notifications
Almost all apps have notifications
The button really only does one thing
No third party apps though
Basically the core essentials from the Galaxy Watch6 except a few things I’ll highlight in a minute

Now the second question: Why did Samsung choose this design? What is it capable of and what can it not do?
Design tour
Sandblasted aluminum
Barometer
Ambient light sensor
5ATM/IP68
3 colors available
Visibility in daylight

And of course, the third question: How accurate is this device?
Sleep tracking comparison
Heart rate accuracy
Only has connected GPS, not built in
Auto workout tracking
Fall detection

The battery - claimed 13 days but I am realistically seeing about 5-7 with my settings

Lastly, how is this different from the Galaxy Watch6?
Please let me know if you want a full comparison
Price: $65 vs $280
Microphone & speaker - no voice assistant, phone calls, or text dictation, only haptic notifications
Text replies - you cannot type or use emojis. Only quick replies
You cannot see what the camera sees in the remote shutter
No Samsung Pay or other wallet options
No Wifi - relies solely on phone
No advanced health features like ECG or body composition
Non visible infrared sensors

But it can do essentially everything else. Considering a huge majority of my watch usage is just notifications, health tracking, workout tracking, weather, calendar, and music controls, this is a very compelling buy. My only complaint is it does not have GPS. There are other competitors that do have GPS in a small package like this. Big miss on Samsung’s part.

Anyone looking to get their first device, or anyone looking to start getting healthier would appreciate this. It makes a great gift as well, and for non-power users, the longer battery life would be appreciated

at $65 that's a steal. The watch is very responsive and packed with lots of features. The display is also vibrant.

@04:58 --> You can customize the button inside the Wearable App, under Advanced Features/Double Press

$65 is amazing, 13 day battery as well & proper smartwatch with blood oxygen, like the old Samsung innovation

This is a classic example of what is called a fitness tracker not a smart watch.

I wish they would bring back the curved design of the Gear Fit... So GREAT.

Just bought one of these. Should be in tomorrow. For the $ it seems like a no brainer device. Basically, a better fitbit for half the price. Its a watch, it can show notifications...I mean that's enough for me. My daily is a Fenix6X Pro, but on days where I want less on my wrist, this will do nicely I think. If these take off, I wouldn't be surprised to see the price rise. Even though it's not technically sold in NA. GPS would be a nice to have...Didn't realize it didn't have it. Battery LIfe is most important to me. I've tried all the Android/Galaxy watches...I can't do the daily charging thing. That's a non starter for me for wearables.

What's great about this watch is that it can be the perfect companion to your Galaxy phone and watch. If you're at the gym, you can wear it strictly to work out and not have to wear your Galaxy Watch in fear of damaging or getting sweat all over it. And this is also perfect for sleep tracking as the ergonomics seems much more comfortable to wear and the bonus is you will have a fully charged Galaxy Watch in the morning. Thanks for the review.

I have Samsungs Pro5 and GW6Classic, but have recently started wearing real watch on my left wrist so have been trying most of the 'leading' fitness trackers (including Charge6). Everyone of these alternative trackers were so frustrating I always ended up returning them and wearing my Samsungs on my right wrist. This Samsung Fit3 is absolutely perfect, and you sum it up well. Except.... you miss the speed, both in use and switching on/off. It's incredible, now I can go on 2 week holiday with this as my tracker/msg device and not worry about charge.

I always liked their Fit line. Glad to see a new entry. Going to pick one up 👍

got mine a couple of weeks ago. so far loving it. just what i need. i don't really fancy the watch with too many features. i just need fitness tracking, sleep tracking, and a few other stuffs. so far satisfied, and it look pretty good too.
  • @sstream17
It feels like a modern day Pebble. I'm interested, I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the review.

I absolutely love mine! I have a galaxy 6 classic and have gotten tired of the weight of the watch. However, I'm getting 2 days on the battery. Yes, i have the always on display on and at the brightest. I'm in the habit of charging before going to bed every night so i can deal with it. None the less, i am really enjoying the fit 3.

This honestly reminds me of the Microsoft Band in terms of its capabilities and limitations (needing to be tethered to the phone for the smartwatch features, for example) but that means I might like it a lot because I LOVED my Band and Band 2 at the time. At this price it's definitely worth trying it out! *clicks affiliate link*

I got this at $48 in India on the Samsung Corporate website, the watch is really great for the price it comes at. Display is beautiful and all the function works perfectly.
  • @CLupis-dz2zt
This is absolutely perfect for me. Ive used a fitbit versa 2 for years now and could never find the right up/sidegrade. Bought one immediately after this review lol

Saw this on amazon and was interested. Decided to watch a review on YouTube and saw yours. I used your affiliate link. Thanks for the video.
  • @zayneytem
Honestly, all the drawbacks mentioned in the video is the exact reason why I'm considering it. It's just a fitness watch and it's much more private without location data, microphone, and all of the other things that shouldn't really be used for. Amazing video, thank you so much!

    👍Very thorough / comprehensive review ... bravo!👌
  • Love mine. Use it to track my exercise and sleep and stress. Also use it when riding my motorcycle. Cheap and reliable.😊
