There are millions today who owe their lives to the work of the man who devoted his career to public health. But in recent years Dr. Anthony Fauci, who combatted infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health, has been targeted by a partisan, anti-science spectrum of opponents. CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jonathan LaPook talks with Dr. Fauci, author of the memoir "On Call: A Doctor's Journey in Public Service," about his role in countering indifference over the AIDS pandemic, and fighting misinformation about COVID-19.

Who would have thought we’d have the likes of MTG & her kind of ignorance in such powerful positions in our government. Not me!
  • There is just too much ignorance in this country. People don't know what they are talking about!
  • @hummersd
MTG saying he should be prosecuted. For what crime? WHAT CRIME?! Vote her out. She's a waste of taxpayer money.
  • @mgrmln
MTG needs to be removed. She is a disgrace. Not to just America, but to all humans.
  • How sad someone who has dedicated his life to caring for people has become vilified and politicized. Such a vibrant public servant.
  • @JoeO.
Empirical evidence, critical thinking, facts, empathy, nonpartisan dedication to public service, professional ethics, education, and experience vs shared narcissistic delusional sycophantic rantings of cowards and hacks…

He should be in jail. Biggest con artist of this century.
  • Dr. Fauci mentioned empathy. That’s some thing that Donald Trump has never had and never will have.

MTG and her ilk didn't get enough attention as kids, or they got lots of negative attention. In some folks, it can be so deeply rooted, they don't even know they feel that way. And so they won't get help, in most cases.

Guided by empathy as his father was and that is ultimately the difference between the two sides.
  • I’m still alive 40 years later thanks to this man (HIV), and anyone who survived that pandemic already knew damn well the compassion, and brilliance, of Dr. Fauci. A role model, American hero, a Titan. Mad respect ✊, not MAGA 🤪

I don't care what crazy MTG says. Never have, never will.
  • Looks to me like they are cleansing all the critical comments here.
  • @kierbaudy
He should have not responded to MTG because she didn’t recognize him, then he doesn’t have to recognize her as a member of Congress.
  • Dr. Fauci is 83 years old, & appears to me to be younger than Biden & Trump. He is energetic & clear & quick mentally. Bless him.
