up there one time around Gauley season, and a couple of kayakers from Colorado asked to paddle with us. After a couple of rapids, one of the kayakers wanted to walk off. The river was too narrow and technical for him. There was a dentist paddling a funyak, sitting in the front seat with his legs hanging over the front sides. He said, there is no good place here, follow me on sneak down this right side. That guy took the kayaker, sneaking all the way down until he paddled out the last 3 miles. Unbelievable. The dentist said he was from Baltimore and only worked Sat and Sun so he could paddle the Yak Fri & Mon. That wasn't the time I went in Wrights Hole in my overflow. Wrong boat for that river.

That’s the river I learned to paddle on in the late 80s. Some of the rocks moved but not much has changed. I’ve run the loop thousands of times. Paddle on brother ☯️

Some great boofs Pete. Looks a great river. Reminds me of some of our Welsh rivers - lowish water with lots of rock gardens. As another commenter said, with more water, it's a whole different trip! Have fun and - of course - stay safe!

Those codes in aqua fresh must have been a limited run. When I get moved somewhere with whitewater, the Code large is what I'm going to be hunting down. At 6'3" 230 it seems like something that wouldn't feel like riding a thimble.

nolichucky river is my favorite river, the gorge is breath taking, and all the history, looks like you had a great time, starting to see alot of Waka boats on the water.
