Mercedes W109 Air Suspension Emergency Support System: 300SEL 3.5 4.5 6.3

Published 2013-12-16
In part 4 of his multipart series on troubleshooting and repairing the air suspension in a W109 Mercedes Kent demonstrates how to support and drive the car if and when the air leaks out of the system. With no air the car WILL fall down. Many do not realize that the W112 and W109 were shipped with special blocks that would allow moving and driving the car for short distances when the owner experienced air suspension system failure. This applies to the 300SE, 300SEL, 3.5, 4.5, and 6.3 from 1963 to 1973

This is just one part in big multi part series Kent is doing on OLD Mercedes Benz. 20 years ago many of these models did not seem that “old.” but now they suddenly are and some are becoming quite valuable. Kent will focus on what he feels are the affordable classics. Other than maybe a walk-a-round he will be not doing much on the likes of the 300SL gull wings and roadsters. He hopes to cover the Pagoda W113s in some of these videos. As this is being filmed in 2014 even these will not be “affordable” in the not too distant future.
