  • I always thought it was interesting how medicine cats cannot have kids, yet Brambleberry functioned better as a mother than Rainflower. This is beautiful work by the way!! :) I love your art style.
  • 'Brambleberry watched as Stormkit lay peacefully in his nest. She glanced at the side of the nest. Normally, an anxious mother would be there, freaking out if her kit made a single movement. Instead, only a father and brother were sat there. Shellheart hadn't left his son's side in three whole days, and Oakkit spent almost every day with his brother. Where was Rainflower? She murmured to Shellheart to keep any eye on the injured kit, before moving gracefully outside. She could see Volekit, Petalkit and Beetlekit all practicing swimming by the reed bed, Echomist watching anxiously. She spotted Rainflower basking herself in the warmth of the sun, looking as if she had no care whatsoever. "Rainflower?" Brambleberry said, Rainflower opened one eye, then closed it again and rolled over. "Something wrong, Brambleberry? Did Oakkit get his paw stuck in that crack again?" She asked lazily, acting as if she didn't care. No, but your other son is lying sick, dying in my den! Or have you just forgotten about him!? Brambleberry thought angrily, waves of anger swarmed through her, but she let her fur lay down once more and stopped bristling. "No, I just wanted to know why your out here instead of with Stormkit." Brambleberry said softly through gritted teeth. Rainflower rolled back over, licking moss, bracken and reed clumps out of her pelt. "Oh, right. Stormkit. I've been thinking of changing his name to Crookedkit. I guess I'll go see him." She yawned, she stumbled around the clearing and into the medicine den. A shriek came from the den. Brambleberry hurried in, had something bad happened? Rainflower was shrieking at Stormkit, who was still fast asleep. "His face! I thought you were going to fix him!" Rainflower turned on the medicine cat, Shellheart got ready to defend his son, and Oakkit grew defensive too. "Rainflower! How dare you! It doesn't matter what Stormkit looks like, as long as he's healthy." Shellheart growled, Oakkit nodded excessively, but Rainflower turned away and trotted outside. When Brambleberry glanced out, she saw she was now in the same patch of sun as before. What an irresponsible mother! Slowly, Oakkit followed his mother out, and Shellheart gave Brambleberry a nod, before joining Hailstar by a willow stump. Brambleberry lay down in the nest, next to the tiny kit. He opened his eyes slowly, still half-asleep. "Rainflower?" He squeaked, before closing his eyes and rolling over. Poor Stormkit! He thought Rainflower was here, comforting him. She wrapped her small body around the fragile scrap, licking his head. I'll love you, Stormkit. StarClan has spoken, you need someone to lean on. That someone will be me. She thought solemnly, slowly, she rested her head on the edge of the nest, and fell asleep.'

I honestly believe Brambleberry and CrookedStar's "mother and son" relationship should've had more screentime but this is absolutely STUNNING
  • Am I the only one who cried after reading his Super Edition because Brambleberry literally mothered him when Rainflower abandoned him? Edit: omg 151 likes? That’s the most I’ve ever gotten tysm

the fact crookedstar had every right to be a villain but still was good hurts me. he endured so much i dont know how i got through his book without a single tear
  • @dearangel5163
God, he's my favorite character. He's been through a lot of pain in his life, but he's still working hard to serve the cats in his own group. Can I share this inspirational work with my friends? They will be deeply moved.
  • @ratter1023
I love how Brambleberry is literally melting every time she looks at Crooked. She's so proud of him no matter what he does

Here's the things I loved the most about this lovely piece of work The moonstone scene, i love how it shows him getting his lives, idk why but I really like it His death? Ughhh it's so good him walking away from his body to his lived ones It also shows how good of a mother brambleberry was, she honestly deserves more support The art is wonderful

One of my favorite parts of Crookedstar’s Promise is the little manga part at the end, why? Because it shows how good Crookedstar is, he was willing to accept Graystripe and acknowledges how hard he is working to be a good dad, and this just makes me happy. A lot of cats are narrow minded when it comes to cats from other clans (thanks erins) but he was just like “he’s not perfect, but he’s trying” and ahhh I love it! So the fact that you included a scene with this is just amazing! Beautiful pmv all in alll!
  • @Ravethecat12
Brambleberry is my favorite medicine cat simply for how caring and sweet she is. I wish we had got to see more of her in the Books.
  • @ivyisbald
Crookedstar being able to not listen to Mapleshade after all his pain in his life I find outstanding. Reading Crookedstar’s Promise again really made me like Crookedstar again, as I somewhat just forgot about him. But This PMV is outstanding, great job!!!
  • I think there's an interesting parallel to be read in Crookedstar's Promise. Having lost his mother figure, Crookedkit ends up seeking a new one. He finds two: Mapleshade and Brambleberry. He chooses Mapleshade at first, because he believes she has good intentions. However, the cat with actual good intention was Brambleberry. Crooked realises this later, and any bitterness toward Bramble vanishes.
  • @ghostscouts
Crookedstars promise while being one of the saddest super editions is also such a good book to see what healthy clan relationships can be I.e bramble berry and crooked kit/paw and I find that so nice and something we don’t get to see much of
  • @ouchpaw3518
Thank you! Finally a project that includes the wonderful, wonderful scene of Oakkit/paw (?) comforting his brother after Crookedkit proudly caught a moth, and wanted to show it to his mother who as always, looked down on him and didn't apprechiate his proud catch at all. So instead, Oakkit spent time with him and gave him the attention he deserved. "You can show me the moth if you like!" or something like that. Warrior Cats is full of tragedy, but it's the tiny, few lines and moments like this that make me want to read on. So much violence but then also hidden wisdom and cute fluff in between. What a weird series we got ourselves into.
