We were in for a RUDE AWAKENING šŸ˜³ Our weather window to make our final shot towards the Marquesas Islands had finally arrived, and it was time to pull the hook and set off on our first multi day passage in a while. We knew it would be a bit of an uncomfortable sail, but something about this one just hit differently. Both of us were SO seasick (which for Kazza is fairly normal when it's rough out, but I very rarely get seasick) and just struggling super hard as we beat our way north. It's hard to capture on camera what it's really like, but its a feeling of just being miserable and there is no where to escape except to keep moving toward your destination. You are literally just trying to survive, the smallest tasks like going to the bathroom or making a cup of tea become a monumental effort...when you can barely take care of yourself, and you need to take care of another tiny human that is completely relying on you, it becomes even tougher. So clip in, and get ready to join us for a rough ride!

Sierra's Pirate Mode was priceless! Kazza sharing her emotional journey was so refreshing and honest. It's all part of the journey. Thank you all for sharing with us.

The honesty add so much to the show. The downs are as important as the ups. Sierra is a powerhouse of entertainment and joy. Thanks for sharing!

In my 15 years of watching sailing vlogs and 9 years now of fulltime cruising, I've never seen a better real life portrayal of what a passage is really like. The challenges faced, the weather, the boat just not being flat, trying to eat regularly, tyring to get sleep whenever, etc etc etc. The emoitional outing afterwards is universal and you did a wonderful job of expressing yourself. Thank you so much for continuing to share your family's life.

You can have the highest highs, when you think, "Man life is good", then everything falls apart. The experience of every human everywhere, no matter their walk in life. We need these lows to keep us grounded so that we can appreciate and enjoy the highs when they happen. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Sierra is such a funny, cute little pirate! The Land-ho and Aaaar made me laugh out loud! So Adorable!!

Hi Brian and Kazza I sailed Mono hull for years got fed up with being on a lean and feeling sick when going down stairs plus everything falling on the floor when in rough weather. I sold it and got a Catamaran and never regretted it. More space and virtually no lean plus my beer never falls over šŸ˜‚ Happy days. Fair winds Ian
  • Some passages can be so brutal and sea sickness is absolutely debilitating. Cannot imagine throwing a toddler into that mix, the added responsibility and energy you would need to summon in order to be a parent, film maker and competent sailor, so much respect guys!
  • Wow, seasickness is kinda like morning sickness on tilt! Props to you for being so transparent. Itā€™s the reason I keep coming back every week, so thank you.
  • Sometimes a mother gets overwhelmed, so does the dad. All my best to you three lovely people ā¤ā¤ā¤ā¤

Pirate Nugget should be an action figure I can buy at Target!!! Karin, sharing your mental state makes you a little less of a superhero, but so much more relatable. Sometimes having an emotional moment after several days of rough sailing, splitting duties between 2 people, all while keeping the little one fed and cared for, is just what a body needs.
  • Awe. I just wanna hug Kazza. I've been feeling for a while she's maybe not happy constantly being on the move, doing long passages, feeling vulnerable (and sick) out on the ocean in such a small space. Who could blame her? Doing it when you're young and in crazy in love and doing it still years later (although still crazy in love) isn't the same. I hope she can be honest, like really honest about what she would like. No matter what this family does, we will always support them. If you need a change or land legs...go for it! All the best guys!

Thank you for trusting the audience enough to share your ups and downs with us. I thought Kaza's real talk moment was incredibly powerful.
  • @crfjohn79
Kazz is such a champ , it takes a lot of courage to talk about oneā€™s feelings especially to such a huge audience !! Hope you guys are well, you guys rock by the way my favourite sailing people!!
  • @danmallery9142
I can't help but feel that the isolation you guys have been experiencing lately isn't at least contributing to your mental and emotional weariness. You have had several emotionally taxing things building on top of each other lately. Frankly, I think it is a testament to your strength that you have handled all of it so well. I hope you find some relief from the stresses soon. Love to watch your journeys and thank you for sharing not only the beautiful places you visit, but the whole experience.
  • @michaelg7076
Ok, and now you've got me crying, remembering how much I love you guys. Watching your child develop into a strong smart soul with salt in her tiny veins, a family I share in a vicarious way, thank you for sharing, You show me what strong looks like.
  • @carrieking3907
Kazza, your tears made me cry and I think it is so healthy for you to show a range of emotions. It is validating to see that motherhood/wifing/life isn't all sunshine and roses, sometimes there are tears and that is ok. I think it is super good for your example to Sierra to show her that Moma's cry too and then they pick themselves up and carry on. Sending hugs!

as someone with zero sailing experience but a fair amount of travel-into-the-unknown experience, this emotional episode makes perfect sense ā€¦ thank you for sharing the ā€œrealā€ feelings ā¤ļø
