Pituitary Tumor Resection

Published 2017-05-28
The pituitary gland is located at the bottom of your brain and above the inside of your nose. Endoscopic pituitary surgery (also called transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery) is a minimally invasive surgery performed through the nose and sphenoid sinus to remove pituitary tumors.

  • "The brain is the most important organ in the body." Sounds like something a brain would say.

I found out last week that I have one of these tumors and need surgery soon. I was terrified at first but videos and explanations like this make me feel so much better about going through it.

My dad suffered with this tumor in 2007. He got a surgery and recovered well. The only problem is that he looks a lot older than others. I am still grateful for doctors for saving him.

Had this surgery 36 yrs ago Wow that's prehistoric! Dr's went in under my top lip and I guess through my nasal area. The tumor was benign YAY!! What they didn't tell me beforehand was that the area in my mouth under the upper lip would be numb for life. I'm sure that doesn't happen anymore. Oh, I almost forgot the part about what the symptoms were....the WORST headaches you could ever imagine!! I wish the best to those having pituitary surgery. You're gonna be alright ❤️

  • This is absolutely amazing! God bless the brilliant scientists and doctors that brought this technology to life and the many patients who have been/will be treated with it.
  • I’m AFAB 26 years old and never been pregnant. I’m in a relationship with another AFAB Individual and when I started lactating I was confused and scared. I couldn’t be pregnant but the ER told me that I might have a pituitary tumor; as I don’t have regular periods, bad headaches and lactation it fit. I will call the OB GYN tomorrow and schedule because the ER doctor said that’s the best course of action.
  • This is intrasphenoidal approach ,its minimally invasive ,great 👍🏻
