ABI Rehabilitation is the place people come to recover from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). In episode two Terry starts to emerge from his fog of confusion, Eltje comes to terms with what’s happened to her, and after six months of rehabilitation Tekaha prepares to re-enter the world a changed man. The journey is a challenge as much for their families as the sufferers themselves, as they get to know a person who may be different to the one they knew pre-injury.

Wow Eltje is really enlightened even with a brain injury. She's doing rehabilitation the right way.

I'm amazed by all of them, of course, but when Terry started recognizing those pictures, that really made me happy. This series is both very sad and very uplifting at the same time.
  • Omg, when Terry, the old truck driver, showed he was gaining his memories back it brought me to tears, I felt like I was family.
  • It is amazing how the staff at the rehabilitation centre help these seriously injured people recover their lives, they are truly miracle workers.

In the 70's, my 3 uncles and grandfather were hit by a drunk driver. One of my uncles was killed, the other was in a coma for 3 months. My grandparents never gave up on him and worked hard to teach him life skills again. Now he's stable, is married and has a job, but only has 5% of his brain left. This series hits me hard because I never had to experience what my family did after the accident. This is such an eye-opener and I want to thank not only the production staff, but especially the survivors for sharing this.

I have a TBI from a terrible car accident. I remember thinking that I would get back to 'my old self'. But I never could, so I have become 'my new self'.

What a beautiful documentary, I am an acute care Neuro nurse in the United States and the strength these individuals go through physically, mentally, and emotionally always amazes me. Thank you.

I was having a bad day and this really put things in perspective. I am so lucky and I have nothing to complain about. These people have to work so hard and they don't complain.

These documentaries are the best thing on the internet. So inspirational.
  • I admire every single one of these people with traumatic brain injury. I admire the families too. These people show such strength, courage, dignity, and love. Thank you for the wonderful film.

God bless TK’s mom who moved her trailer across the street from the facility to be with her son on a daily basis. What an awesome display of self-sacrifice!

Wow that is so interesting to learn about what brain injury really is, a have to admit there were some misconceptions from my part. I am so happy for Terry and his family, it looked so unpromising in part 1
