Great video and awesome riding!  These bikes are heavy and not easy to throw around a track like that!  Years ago I had a 1986 xr600r that was bored out .5mm and had more compression than stock  (I don't remember the exact numbers) and that bike was BRUTALLY FAST!!!!!  I didn't ride it much around a motocross track, mostly high speed (VERY HIGH SPEED) desert riding in Arizona....  Simply an amazing bike!  The 1986 was my favorite year because I like the orange, blue and yellow with the gold wheels...  Beautiful bike!  It was so comfortable to ride and had amazing power and torque throughout the RPM Range!  I ended up getting paralyzed from an ATC (1985 200 X) accident where I passed out from dehydration, veered off the trail and hit a tree.  It broke 4 vertebrae in my neck and pinched my spinal cord leaving me paralyzed from the chest down.  Riding my dirt bike is definitely one of the things that I miss most!  Thanks for the awesome video!

The air cooled XR 600R has the best Thumper Engine Power anyone could ever want[especially with just an IMS no.1 cam-they fly still with huge low end] In 99 I did what was the best trail Riding in ACT,NSW Brindabella National Park all the way to the Snowy Mtn.s National Park in the Great Dividing Range of Australia, but a fire in 2003 may have stopped[was it still legal after 2003?] what was FULLY LEGAL as long as you had road reg.in Australia-the Stripped down US version could get away with Street Legality, and man we had a ball. I have 2.5 600/628's left, with all new cranks 2'5 Complete engines all new Gearboxes, but a huge job to get them all together since I got back into music. These guys riding are getting some serious air for such a big bike! the rear drum 88-90's were 265lb dry,but the 92-2000 rear disk[with excellent cartridge forks[280+pounds bone dry] were superb-I set mine just like Scott Summers specs, and they absorbed me hitting a small-med. Kangaroo at 80 KM/h without denting/busting the front wheel-I flew 30-40 meters, and very luckily just flew superman style without getting hung up on the bike-The Kangaroo broke in half guts everywhere, all gone next day-wild boars-I suspect, when I went to find some left-behind bits that next day,[and fixed with Zip Ties,Duct Tape,Wire] the busted front brake speedo mount headlight and had 50KM of tight trails and another 20km of Road to make it home[in the Dark!],best bikes EVER,great Filming-Riding Thank You for sharing!

This dude can ride. I've ridden a few xr600s and while thy have all the power in the world they are HEAVY.
  • very good riding skills , you chuck it around like it is light 2 stroke, enjoy watching you ride very good
  • I sat awe through the video! The rider of that bike is amazingly talented! Best XR video ever!!!
  • Best XR600R video I've ever seen. Right now I go to the garage to ride that beast at the track. Greetings from Czech rep.
  • @mxthunder2
amazing video. nothing like the sound of a stock XR rumbling around like that. love the 96.
  • @tcepilot
Incredible!!!!!! Very inspiring for me. Making me less afraid to trail ride my xl600. A bit heavier with worse suspension, but I can remedy that.

I just bought a 98' I got it plated and plan on riding mostly on the street. I'm 5'7" 140lbs and I'm not gonna lie it's intimidating on dirt. I'm so used to my 2 stroke YZ that the XR feels giant in comparison. That's some really impressive riding. You throw that bike around like it was a 125 2 stroke
