Literally every time the topic of aliens comes up: Shane: Yes, I believe in aliens. Ryan: WHAT? This is BRAND NEW INFORMATION.
-
Petition to turn Shane’s cute alien drawings into pins for the merch store!

I used to live in Roswell, NM and one thing people generally don't know about NM is that there is rampant untreated schizoaffective disorders and psychosis in that state. When I lived there it felt like everyone had at least one person in their family suffering from obvious psychosis. Part of it is a result of the American government treating NM like a bomb testing playpen (causing environmental factors that make people physically and mentally sick through generations), but a lot of it is a lack of adequate treatment resources (and a lot of people therefore just... living with untreated psychosis). So whilst I am saying "the bodies reported at the Roswell crash 100% could've been manifestations of schizoaffective telephone," I'm saying it with a degree of seriousness asking people to look at the situation with empathy instead of the usual response--which is "oh, if you said you saw something in NM, what were you smoking and how much did you drink with it?" Anyway, sorry to bring the mood down a bit, but I really loved this ep! Honestly the crash really impacted the culture in Roswell, so any video talking about it brings back happy memories.

Y’all need to remember at the time that hearing happened, the military was under exhaustive scrutiny because they hadn’t passed an audit in years and years, and billions of dollars was/is missing. Ten bucks, the whole hearing was meant to get heat off that

no way did shane just say he’s not that interested in mysteries on a show called mystery files
-
I love the guy in the video who declares "there's geometry behind this!" like he's unveiling his old academic archnemisis as the architect of this nefarious conspiracy
-
Neil DeGrasse Tyson actually said recently, "You're telling me aliens with incredibly advanced technology to travel the galaxy came to Earth, and then they crashed!?"
-
The problem with most analysis of aliens and ‘what they would do’ is that it’s completely based on human behavior.
-
The cork board this week looks like a combination of everyone’s uncles insane ramblings.
-
Honestly you could have a full separate series on just “The US Government’s (insert any topic here) Cover-Up”

unironically i think the "raid area 51" era when i was in middle school was one of the happiest times of my life
-
I love when Shane just mildly entertains Ryan and then Ryan starts to waffle like a little kid at show and tell. He always seems to think Shane's mind will be blown, and instead he responds like an indifferent dad on the weekend who just wants a nap.
-
Gosh I forgot how much Shane sounds like the Professor from Puppet History

Working at Area 51 would suck. They won’t let OSHA or the EPA in, and their janitors filed a class action law suit due to the cancerous chemicals they were exposed to because they used to burn all of area 51’s trash with jet fuel. Also, in Area 51 you could just be murdered and no law enforcement would ever be allowed in to investigate.
-
i love this show because Shane’s episodes are funny and/or terrifying but still grounded mysteries that people care about and Ryan’s episodes are just “what if everyone in the bermuda triangle is time travelling?” “what if…”
-
I love how the captions at 15:26 says “[unintelligible]”, but you can clearly hear them say: “Did you just box a moving target?” “No I got it on auto-track” “Ah, ok”
-
9:03 shane going “what does he know” about carl sagan is so funny after he defended his honor on unsolved
-
9:04 Sadly, it was Stephen Hawking who said that it is not a good idea for us to call or respond to a sentient alien life which can transverse galaxies, since that means that those aliens have tech beyond our scope.

I actually know an older woman who worked at Area 51. She was one of the record keeping staff and was in charge of filing any and every piece of documentation that was produced. She worked there during the 60s, 70s and 80s, so she helped to make sure everything went from physical documents to the government’s actual records database. I say all that just to say that, without actually telling me, she pretty much confirmed that Area 51 was nothing more than a tech and weapons testing and development facility. This was back in 2012 when I talked to her about it. I thought it was neat tbh.
