Im most impressed with the customer. That is exactly the way to handle the situation.
  • @silverado0938
That customer is an awesome dude and not greedy. Couldn’t take the risk more comfortable with a solid number, and he understood that. That’s a rare person
  • @PharticusMcbutt
I actually love that the guy wasn’t pissed that he made the wrong choice. I genuinely thought this story was going towards him wanting you to give him more money after the fact.
  • @kapothegod
cant believe the customer was so happy for him in the end. damn what a good guy

The famous words of Richard Rawlings is that there is an ass for every seat and when you go to an auction like Barrett-Jackson there's a ton of ass for that one seat and there will be someone to buy it
  • I've met exactly two car salesmen that I trust in my life, and both are the owners of their dealerships. Every single other one, including four other dealership owners, I wouldn't trust to replace a toilet paper roll without cheating me.
  • @WildChinoise
I met one that trusted. Turns out he was a vet, recently retired from service. We spoke straight with each other and I had the best purchase transaction with him.

At 62 years of age, I can honestly say I've dealt with a total of (2) car salesman I found to be reputable. Both had commonality in that a)they weren't the least bit concerned about their commission and b)they were more mature men who had been raised properly and just didn't have it in them to be dishonest. They knew all the "tricks of the trade" and simply chose not to participate. That's a good mantra for life right there, younger folks. Good examples of human beings, really. - Ed on the Ridge

Awesome story Joe thank you so much for sharing the numbers that’s something not to everyone does… it really shows character

Thats really cool to hear the previous owner was cool with it and realized the reality of the situation. Im so used to people getting upset about the mistakes they make in deals and acting entitled to some sort of compensation

Joe is a straight shooter, good guy, as is his brother. Good guys to compete & hang with
  • @UnderUrs69
I listed a house for a family member and they were ready to sell it for wholesale. I listed it according to comps and we got a full price offer in one day.

Very informative. Thanks for helping me understand car auctions a bit better.
  • I've known some car dealers who I trusted. They worked for the manufacturer-owned dealership in the home city of the manufacturer's headquarters. Their organization and their rewards were structured so that they worked to maintain the value of the brand and to avoid any funny business or dishonesty. If they would've tried anything funny they would've been punished by the manufacturer who owns the dealership even if their ploy would've potentially made them money. You could tell from all aspects that they did everything by the book.

I’ve had one, count them one, straightforward, honest and simple car purchase. In that case, I walked in, picked out a car, was given a good price, and went through the purchase with no bullshit about price, service plans, finance options, etc. The whole transaction took about thirty minutes. The secret? I knew the sales manager and was good friends with his girlfriend. Not his wife, I didn’t know her. But I’d known his girlfriend for years. Best buying experience I ever had.

Carl watched too many Chasing Classic Cars. Most of the auctions didn't do very well !
  • @Ajmp2236
nice joe! good to see a man i know personally on Vin Wiki. keep up the good work brother!
  • @willmtaylor
Such a good story. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
  • @barondugger
The guy who restored the pink mustang learned this the hard way. He sold it at Barrett's in Arizona (IIRC), and the buyer in turn sold it at Barrett's in Monterey for double.
  • @jjuel5
I mean this guy wasn't dealing with him in a regular car salesman type of manner though. He was going to consign the cars which means he had no reason to lie. He had just as much reason to hope the cars sold for as much as possible as well.
