Part 2 of today’s podcast is a 1-on-1 conversation between Adam and Jay Leno. The guys begin by talking about comedians who waste time doing crowd work, Jay’s incredible memory, and wrapping your mind around people’s feedback on your work. They also chat about being interested in both comedy and mechanics, a typical day in the life for Jay, and putting together his incredible car collection. Later, Adam asks Jay about his early days of standup comedy, and they go on to discuss comedians that Jay thinks are great. In the last part of the show, Adam asks Jay about his religious beliefs, and Jay tells a story about Rodney Dangerfield.

  • Just realized that Jay is the true link we have to the classic standups of the 50s-60s. Dangerfield, Rickles, etc. Love the Dangerfield story, so touching...

These two are the most normal people in Hollywood and it’s so refreshing.
  • You're a legend for getting Jay on the show. He is one of those few people in show business that you just know is worthy of their reward.

I swear I could listen to jay tell stories for hours. Great guy.

Jay is one of the greatest storytellers I’ve ever heard. Love him.

I saw Leno's show live in June of 1994. Danny DeVito was a guest, All-4-One performed "I Swear" and Ray Romano did standup. Jay said hello to us fans at the end of the taping while they were taking some quick 10 second spots for promotion. The mood in that room was so positive and upbeat. He is one incredible machine and the real deal. Ray Romano was on my flight back to JFK the next day on an empty 767. I briefly said hello to show respect and he was a guy that was obviously working his tail off. And, it paid off! Those were the days. Jay is so impressive as a work machine and such quick wit. A genius and still the guy from next door that you love. Great interview!!!

Tremendous respect to Jay for taking a pay cut to keep his staff. The guy is a legend. There are few good clean comics these days (I love Chappelle and before that Carlin, Eddie Murphy and Sam Kinison) but Jay proves that you can be a clean comic and still get laughs

"I don't shoot for happiness, I shoot for content." Excellent philosophy. Keeps you level-headed and humble.

Jay was vilified by other talk show hosts but to me he always seems like a really decent guy.
  • @artvandelay_180
Took a $15M paycut to save his staff’s jobs. Amazing. Not enough (any?) people know about this. What a great (and very funny!) guy

Could you imagine if Jay Leno, Adam Carolla, and Tim Allen did the US Top Gear show? It might have been bigger than the original.

Jay is one of the nicest guys in show business. I have run into him in public several different times. He was always friendly every single time. And the guy is so down to earth. He is just a great guy!

Adam and Jay. Two names who made up my '90s childhood on late night. Great interview

All Jay Leno has done for me is make me laugh and stimulate my mind with his garage show. And with that, I say,... Thank you, Jay Leno!!
  • @tedium37
I've heard the Dangerfield story before and the pay cut but he doesn't get enough credit for just being a stand up guy. Last of the good eggs. Thanks Jay and Adam.
  • @LN-Lifer
Damn Jay should be a life coach. I can vouch for what he said about contentment. I had contentment but I went for happiness and lost my company my family and myself. Wish I could have been content with being content
  • @itsmatty365
Jay is a car guys national treasure! I could hear him talk about rare or strange cars for hours! I
  • @Dfturcott
If I remember right regarding the Duesenberg in the parking garage in New York City, there was an issue getting it out because it didn’t fit in the modern car elevator they had installed
  • @landocommando8
Jay is such a genuine guy! I saw him at the Auburn, In auto auction as a kid. One of my heroes.
