People don’t want to spend over market price, especially when it a crazy amount over. For example that Lufia II on snes cib was marked at $450 but it’s only worth 300 on average and sure the condition might be good but still way over priced. On top of that you know in the back of your mind they only payed the people 40-50% of market value for that. It’s just overall not become worth it.

Resellers artificially raising the prices way above value. Future gamers play digital & us collectors don’t want to spend outrageous prices. I ask myself all the time “do I really need this?” No not at that price.

I have slowed down on collecting retro games alot and collect modern games only when they go on sale. I love game collecting but there are other things i rather spend my money on nowadays.

3:47 that sealed Naruto misprint game was mine I traded in. Funny seeing a game that sat on a shelf in my room for a year in your video lol And the power rangers game used to be mine haha

When games start out pricing their original new price, it’s no longer gamers but collectors buying. And there is way less collectors than gamers so retro prices out price themselves to buyers and collectors up the pricing quickly on rarer and more sought after games so it eventually out prices even its collectors go a limited few. Looking at all these retro game shops and online, the market is oversaturated at the price point the games sell for, especially when I walk in and see some categories with full shelves and others having little, shops need to start addressing supply and demand rather than market price. It will eventually even out and business savvy games shops will survive while those only init for money hopefully just close due to not being as profitable anymore.
  • Great video! Really cool to see these stores. These are both ones I'm excited to check out next month, so it was really nice to get to see them from your lens. Great stuff!

I always support my local game stores! They have some of the best deals and have helped me find some of my grails in the collection. Great video. Loved seeing some of the crazy stuff. That Shrek pack 😮
  • I think the market for retro gaming is growing and growing due to modern day consoles and games being “mostly” style over substance. My PS4 died on me 8 months ago. Friends were pushing me to invest in a PS5, but after seeing the games out on PS5, I decided to go back to a PS3 and a SNES instead. The games are just so much more fun. And allow for a 20 minute gaming session, unlike the PS4/5 where 20 minutes barely boots the system up and download an update.
  • Did yall see that one dude trying to slickly hide the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition box after JRPGWife pointed out 3DS boxes in the back? He uses a big box to cover it up and picks them up at the same time, goes to put back the big box, but mistakenly puts back the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition box and immediately takes it back. Was funny lol

The hobby had a huge boom last decade. Now prices are high and people are broke.

Great video! Our main haunts here in the IE are Lost Levels in Claremont and Pixel Vault in Ontario. Both are awesome game stores! Lost Levels holds alot of fun events that we take our son to. Pixel Vault has some great vendor weekends in front of their store, which are a blast. If we must buy online, I go onto Double Jump over in WA (we all know Sic Cooper's store). I've bought probably 1/2 my amiibos from them.

There was a store locally in Tempe called Flashback games that closed a couple of years ago. They always had good prices and were pleasant. Was bummed to see them have to close.
  • Very cool video!!! Supporting the video game community goes both ways, thank you JRPGLife ❤

Ebay is the place to shop for best condition for best price. Plus the fact that many game stores sell scratched discs, don't clean their inventory, and blatantly rip off their customers on trade ins. I gave up on stores a long time ago in my urban area.
  • My local video game store, that's been open since the early 90s, has nothing priced so he looks up everything you're interested in. He asks for 2x ebay and pricecharting, and sometimes 3x. He does have a lot of rare games, but also a lot of filler and just a bit of everything. It's certainly quite a store. But he wanted $50 for a copy of Hannspree Ten Kate Honda for PSP, for just one example I can remember. It was sealed, but I ended up getting it brand new off ebay for $12 shipped.

I love your channel and envy your relationship. Keep up the good work!

ngl I mostly shop for games at fallout since the prices and quality of cleaning the products at that store is probably the best in the valley.
  • @gundam0121
I don't have a local game store like those but my local gamestop the manager is a great gamer always give us heads up on deals and toys to make sure some games a good for you. Funny story she called me one day to ask me about some games I played once or twice
  • @eberstark
Awesome finds love to watch! I actually went out yesterday and found lots of games from childhood that I now have back!
