  • You bring back memories of growing up with a creative sister that would buy thrift items and turn them into beautiful clothes. This was back in the fifties and Carol has gone to Heaven for many years but thank you for keeping the spirit alive...

Another hint for sewing buttons on sheer or delicate fabrics - pick a 2nd button, flat, preferably clear or unobtrusive in color and sew it to the inside, directly behind the right side button. Sew them together, so they anchor each other. This provides support, and will keep the right side button from straining or pulling on the fabric, as it's attached to an inner button. This is also a good idea for coat/sweater buttons, which tend to be heavier.

Love that these thrift flips aren't just a bunch of crop tops. These look like something I could actually see my daughter wearing.

It's refreshing to see our younger generations see and show the value of alterations! Most off the rack clothing needs a nip or tuck to make it look fabulous. I'm impressed by your talent and vision!

One of the benefits of revising thrift garments is that it helps to understand how they are made. I've been doing it for a long time (I'm kind of old) and find it helps me in drafting and designing for myself. Fun changes and that final dress is just perfect.
  • I was expecting a quick video, before and after, just for a general idea of what you did. What you gave us was an in-depth sewing lesson, with specifics on the zigzag width and length, I hit that subscribe button. I've been sewing since childhood, and I'm thrilled to see that generation after generation, styles may change, but sewing isn't going out of style.

It's amazing how much of a difference it makes to tailor a piece of clothing to fit better. You did a great job and look fantastic.

Love how you rescue clothes and your enthusiasm!
  • Thank you, Addey! The tuck on the yellow flower dress is genius! And just the basic alterations are so important to know how to do. Thanks again. Love your videos, you are adorable.
  • I like how you used the tuck in the back of the floral dress. It looks like an inverted pleat. It really adds to the style of the piece. Nice flips!

I love that you know how to alter the clothes🤩I used to buy cheap, used, wedding gowns🥰 I took the skirt part of a gown, and the bust of another, and fit them together......that was over 30 years ago. I can not understand those who find the perfect piece of ? but put it back because it does not fit...💃 with out a though of altering it to fit😘.....Not everybody has your talent👌. Thank you for being you✌. I just subscribed yesterday and so glad I could see the new❤ video from a new friend....that's you. I am going blind and wish I could do what I used to do. Very alone, and at my age now. Thank you and sorry for the rambling. It is the shits when you out live your friends. Thank you for all of your up-beat content. Much love👍👍👍

I have been buying second hand & altering the items for years. I was way ahead of the curve. Thank you for talk about basic sewing to make simple changes bc that is the easiest way to thrift!!
  • I’m sure I’m not the first to note that you sometimes thrift a shirt or dress for the buttons alone, for less $ than buying new buttons.
  • @April-vc9rq
I had no idea a dress could be altered the way you did that second dress. I always thought you had to taper it off or it'll look weird. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
  • @lestranged
When buying new buttons for a thrifted blouse, make sure they will fit through the existing buttonholes!
  • @Aryce8
Yes, just simple alterations! I NEED more of these videos

Girl, you got mad skills!!!! I love to thrift as well. Some people don’t realize what great stuff you can find. Love that a younger person such as yourself care enough to remake vintage things. I am very impressed!! Thanks so much for sharing your videos, keep on thrifting!!!!
  • I started sewing on a machine when I was 9 years old, and began making lots of my own clothes. I can even remember making a long sleeve, button up shirt with collar, then the next summer, making it sleeveless, with a V neck and wearing it backwards. I'm going on a cruise in October and have a stack of thrifted pieces that will be converted. Linen elastic waist pants that are way too big will be come draw string shorts, AND a drawstring skirt (from 1 pair of pants). A little girl maxi dress in a print I LOVE, but has a small bodice, will be cut under the bodice to release all the gathers. Then I'm making a yoke and shoulder ties, to make it a shorter baby doll type dress. So many possibilities. I like the overall idea. I have 2 white cotton nightgown that I love, that I think I want to make into more of a one piece romper for sleep and lounging. I can take tips from your project.
