In 2013 in south London, almost 10 times more patients are cared for in their homes than in hospital. It's better known as care in the community but our perception of whether it works is often coloured by isolated stories in the media about schizophrenics who have killed. The reality is somewhat different. Cameras follow a community mental health team in the borough of Lewisham. Social worker Jim and psychiatrist Dr Werner are part of a 20-strong team that look after around 350 mental health patients. Ultimately, if they can keep them well and stable, these people stay out of psychiatric hospital and enjoy their freedom and independence. There are more than 1,000 patients in the borough living with psychosis. It means they have a distorted view of reality - they hear voices, experience delusions or hallucinations.

I really liked this mini-documentary. I wish they'd make a Series out of Lloyd and his Dad's story. It'd help me to know how to get through my Trials and Tribulations, if they can do it -- I can too.

Poor guy i hope he can find inner peace, god bless.

What we are doing in regards to mental health is patently not working and we are simply adding even more problems. What a fantastic father that man is.

Here are my questions. If a person recognizes the fact that they are hearing voices in their heads, and they know it’s just that, are they able to just ignore these voices? What compells them to act out what the voices tell them?
-
I have various voices,a male & female & sometimes a crowd in my head, the female is very volatile & tells me to do bad things, she puts me down by saying horrid things about me,the male is very laid back but tells me everything will be ok,the crowd i have no idea of what they say because its like being in a crowded room,im on medication now but their still there,i just have to live with them & ignore them the best i can,i stopped socialising & drinking,i stay by myself mostly

Sometimes I wonder if it's a spirit attachment.

Per chance an appliance could be engineered to amplify and project that voice so folks around can hear it and be warned. Cheers!
-

The problem Is not " hearing voices in one's head " ....the problem Is WHAT those voices are telling you.... Come on, we all hear voices.

Its called auditory hallucinations the voices are actually there, they are transmitted by mental telepathy. You are not crazy. The voices are external (outside the head). You are connecting to another person and transmitting the voices. Your internal voice is gone. Unfortunately it never goes away. You have to live with it.
