The Garden Railway built into the side of a Hill! Lawrie Goes a Little Loco Episode 5

Published 2023-08-05
Hello everyone,
Today Lawrie's having a look at the Ivy Railway, built into the side of a Welsh hill - a place that most people would never think to have a garden railway - but the owner wasn't deterred by location!

If you want to follow Ian's progress with the railway and his other modelling projects, check out his channel here: youtube.com/@Elvinley

A video Featuring, Shot, and Edited by Lawrie

It was great to have you visit the line and stay with us. You must do it again soon and get your coat back as well! Great video!

Takes garden railways to the next level. Ian has created a great little railway of Wales.
  • I had a feeling at some point that you would do a video on the Ivy Railway seeing that you have appeared in their videos

This is such an amazing little railway, so a lot of effort and love was put into making this and it shows

What a great little set up throughout, small woods with sun shine through the trees, hats off to the owner I absolutely love this little video. brilliant lawrie.
  • This is like the smaller equivalent of the Driving Creek Railway here in New Zealand. That's a 15inch gauge line running up a mountain with five switchbacks and a double-decker viaduct. It was the brainchild of one man - the late Barry Brickell - and I highly recommend visiting the railway if you come to New Zealand again.

Been following their channel for years now. What a great little project 🙂

Amazing video, and really happy to hear the owner has a YouTube channel! I’ll check it out, love little yet useful railway’s and their kit. Way Out West is a favorite as well, amazing creative builder in Ireland who build his own railway from scratch that he actually uses for his farm and other projects. He even made an airpowered piston locomotive, unfortunately he needs a stronger compressor still. It does run! And does pull!

This looks like a gorgeous location to have a miniature railway, even if it’s not absolutely ideal!!

Great little railway. Looks like a lot of fun, and a lot of work to dig it out

I think I might have heard about this gorgeous little Railway before. It might well have been on You Tube!!

Class! What an achievement! Really scenic little route too, i'm sure the neighbours love seeing it on it's runs!

Great railway. What a lot of digging has been done. The clearances remind me of the top half of the Ffestiniog railway.
