This game come out very late in PS2’s lifecycle and everyone was moving onto the PS3/360 so not surprised this game didn’t take off. But I couldn’t afford a new console back then, very underrated DBZ game. I played this more than BT3 back in the day
  • Infinite world is the best 2D Dbz game, it's basically Budokai 4 and a direct upgrade in almost every aspect, I truly believe the main reason it didn't get enough love is because it's not named "Budokai 4"

Believe it or not, this was for years my favorite Dragon Ball game, even though Budokai Tenkaichi 3 already existed.

7:15 its a well known fact that the dev's forgot to adjust the difficulty. Pretty clear oversight, even on Very easy , the fights against Kid buu and Shenron are insanely hard for casuals like me. I still have fun with IW, but it has some small downsides that prevent it from being as good as B3

I was hardcore plugged into Dragon Ball and Video games in 2008. The fact that this flew under my radar is astounding. I actually only found it when I was, years later, researching the PS2 library.

I think people forgot about it because it released 2 years after the PS3 released. I think by then everyone hopped over to the Halo/COD/Bioshock next generation of gaming. I remember I bought the game but I was just so into the new games that were coming out that I forgot about it. I honestly think 2008 was a legendary time for gaming so many good games came out around that time.

The problem I had with IW is that it felt rushed. In the sense that you wanted more from it. While I enjoyed the gameplay additions plus the capsule system, the lack of beam struggles & tournament mode was a sin. They removed some characters to add some (better) ones; however at this point you expect a more reasonable amount of new characters: 19, Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, Burter & Jeice, etc. B3 just had a vibe that IW wasn't able to get in my opinion.

The very last Dragon Ball Z game on the PlayStation 2 back in late 2008 from 15 years ago. When I went to Target store, and I saw Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World on the shelf. So I picked it up and buy it for $40. I hooked it up on the PS2, and it was good but it was a complete different from Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3. Dimps took out hyper mode from Budokai 3, they took out dragon rush qte sequence during gameplay, and they took out the World Tournament on the main menu. Which I don't know why they took the World Tournament out in Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World? The story from Dragon Ball Z, GT, and DBZ films were good, the cutscenes were good as well, but the mini games were lackluster during story mode. They've added brand new characters such as Goku (GT), Vegeta (GT), Pan (GT), Super Baby Vegeta 2, Super #17, Syn Shenlong, Janemba, Pikkon, and etc. So I was we can play Baby Vegeta, Goku (GT), Pikkon, and more in a Budokai game. Where as Budokai 3 only let you play as Kid Goku, Kid Uub, Cooler, Bardock, Broly, Omega Shenron, SSJ4 Goku, SSJ4 Vegeta, and SSJ4 Gogeta. Which its also good too. But I think they could've done a bit better for the last DBZ game on the PlayStation 2.

The hours i spent grinding on this game in 2008-2009 best times

I loved dragon ball sagas as a kid, I knew it had problems but I really loved it lol

I mainly played Budokai 2 and love it. Followed by the HD Collection with 3 on Xbox 360. I've never realized this was "Budokai 4" for such a long time, and now that I'm buying PS2 games for myself that I loved and owned on GameCube, I'm frustrated to never have played this. It's worth $100 CAD now, and I noticed it two or three times, but once again, completely forgot what it was, neglecting it for the price and thinking it wasn't the original Budokai I loved. Although, I could get it on PCSX2 one day, but that's for away when I build my first PC. I would still like to try it, but I might still love Budokai 2 the best. Looking at the gameplay though, I don't love it... I'll try it on PCSX2 one day.

I played Budokai 3 to death back when it came out. I can't believe im only just hearing about this game.
  • @gomezalejandrog
The music of Budokai 3, beams of Budokai 3 (including beam struggles), with the added features of Shin Budokai 2, that would be perfect. Still hoping for a Budokai 4
  • @BZgA
Never played this game but the story mode looks fun. Take my like 👍🏻

Considering how close it was, and how similar they feel on an Xbox controller. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was in development around the same time as burst limit.

Also my favorite of the budokai series because of the GT Charadters. The heathy bar and energy bar portion looks cheap tho. Budokai 3 did that best

this was my first DBZ game ever and man is it fucking good, played it for so long as a kid and tried my best to 100%, i then got Tenkaichi 2 and Budokai 3 but did not enjoy them as mutch as Infinite, if anything i hated them lol
