I can only imagine the Jojo level explanation the Baki narrator would give to explain why Yujiro would win here
  • Ironically, I feel the two would have the time of their lives, both of them willing to use any tactic to win. If Yujiro were in Street Fighter, he'd absolutely have the Satsui no Hado. Yujiro's totally gonna die, but he'll die knowing he could fight someone without any restraint

Commissioner here! Thank you Therewolf for making one of my dream MUs a reality with this track! I really like the intense and haunting yet fast-paced aggressive nature of the song. Yujiro Hanma is one of my top choices for Akuma with the other being Raoh from Fist Of The North Star. Both have a good list of similarities and their fight and banter has very good potential. From what I heard, Akuma easily mops Yujiro hard, even when disregarding non-canon and crossover stuff but I think it has enough potential to make it entertaining at least (and Akuma holds back initially anyways so personality wise, it wouldn't feel too much of a stomp). Hope to see this MU one day in DB!

This is my preferred for both by far. I get the appeal of Kazuya against either of them, but I feel like this makes more sense. Great track & Akuma FTW

Akuma when Yujiro survives the Raging Demon and copies it:

A second Baki track so soon after the first one ? Pretty cool. Y'know, as someone who's not too familiar with Street Fighter and even less familiar with Baki I originally thought that this matchup was a one-sided beatdown for Akuma but after reading Yuujiro wiki page ? Man, this guy is able to do some impressive stuff so I actually wonder if Yuujiro's got a shot at winning this. I do suppose having that revelation done to me fits Baki as a manga given how over the top it is (again, from what little I've read). As for the song itself, well it's about what you'd expect from this. It's quite calm and composed to reflect both characters' serious nature but it also has a extremely imposing presence to it with the very powerful percussions and constant background synth melody pounding away. This gives the track an almost "apocalyptic" vibe to it which I think fits perfectly given those two characters are pretty much seen as the strongest being of their universes that not anything nor anyone can take down. I also really like the fact that the song just takes its time to introduce a really nice progression all throughout its duration. To elaborate on that I'll go about it mostly chronologically: Right at the beginning we get the first buildup before the song "truly" begins that's is almost a full minute long which is great. It gives a lot of tension and scale to the song and is perfectly fitting as you can just imagine the two of them introducing one another and sizing up their opponent to gauge if they'd be a "worthy opponent" before their battle begins. Then we get the "start" of the song and start of the fight at 0:51 gives out something very Street Fighter-like with more subtle hints at a more Baki-like OST (from what little I've heard of Baki OST) which makes the track feel a lot like an actual fighting game track but most importantly it makes the song feel as if the two are actually fighting how they'd fight at the start of a battle. It feels like they'd start not with their strongest abilities or anything to that extent but just with "regular" attacks to gauge how strong the enemy is. Only starting at 1:13 do we get a slowdown in the song and a slow increase in tension and scale to signify how the two would slowly start ramping up their attacks and abilities to seriously try and take down the opponent, even having chants start to get across the sheer power and brutality of the characters, as if to represent a legendary battle between two mythical beings fighting one another. This then leads to a break at 1:58 as the song completely shifts into a much more atmospheric and outright sombre song to showcase the two's transitions in their more demonic and powerful forms, the song full stopping for a bit to get across the raw power they emit by doing so and leading into a way more raw and brutal segment of the song up to 2:50. This segment isn't the best-sounding to me but it definitely is a great part for story-telling purposes as it shows a part of the fight where the two would just be lashing out against one another trying to kill them with little thought or care. Something that'd then lead them to realize at 2:50 that, despite their hatred of their enemy, they've actually found the exact thing they've wanted from them: a worthy opponent. This leads them into enjoying the battle once again, starting another "regular" fighting segment but this time with the scales pumped up to eleven as the two unleash their full power and all their abilities and strategies against one another to try and prove which of the two is the strongest, all the while enjoying their fight up to its end when one of the two finally collapses, defeated, at 3:44. And even then you can still hear the chants and the instrumental continuing for a bit to signify clearly the sheer power of the characters, as if to say that even after they've stopped fighting and one of them is defeated, their raw aura still has enough power to make the world shake and the song still active. It's a really good conclusion to an even better ending. Overall this track is about expected in terms of quality. It's a really solid song that fits the characters, has a really good and fluid progression all the while sounding great in general. I don't have much to say on it other than that but I think that in of itself should be enough to tell the general quality of the track. Amazing job as always with this.

Ultimately Akuma wins but not without a crazy showing from Yujiro first. The Ogre is a regular ass human but they don’t call him his title for nothing. Akuma is going to have a hell of a time.

And here I thought I was the only one who felt this match up was interesting? Can't wait to see how this banger turns out.
  • I love the references to Yujiro Hanma's 2001 theme. Its just so fitting
  • I think I could feel some of Akuma’s SF4 theme in here. Great choice! It’s his best one.
  • @CG-ej4yj
For some reason this track in particular might be my favourite. I don’t know why maybe it’s the the way you blend the motifs together so well. 💯

I'd ove to see how DB would handle Baki the grappler, we really need to calc the absurdity of the series
  • @PerfectBlueBoyOP
This is Freaking Awesome! Both of These Fighters Are Beyond insane! You've Done a Perfect Job On This Therewolf Media Keep it Up :D
  • @BadassHater1
If this is Akuma vs Canon Yujiro - Yujiro most likely dies If it is a Booty Warrior Yujiro though..... Edit Well i'll be damned - these two are cousins. That explains quite alot
  • @goldenhearts6932
Such a blast we got here with this track, you can feel the demon breathing on your neck while hearing this, awesome work!
  • @thirddegree1017
Don't you just hate it when the matchup that makes the most sense is also the most one-sided?
  • @Tabletopcloud20
About time. I'm surprised this hasn't been a death battle yet, considering how much these two have income with one another and the animation potential.
