I visited Aston Villa, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, Walsall, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Coventry City, Leicester City, Derby County, Notts County AND Nottingham Forest to chart the incredible rise and fall of the Midlands.

Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have more European Cups than all the London teams combined but are currently battling Premier League relegation.

Wolves, West Brom and other MASSIVE teams in the Midlands were Football League founders but are currently struggling in 2022/23.

  • Should the Midlands teams be performing better in 22/23 given their incredible history???

Leicester’s Club ambassador alan birchenall has raised millions for local hospitals and charities throughout the years and has ran around the edge of the pitch in the clubs traditional ‘end of season’ run for FORTY years straight! Legend ! He’s had heart defibrillators placed around the whole of Leicestershire! !

Great video, Sam. What Nottingham Forest achieved in the late 70's/early 80's was phenomenal. When Clough and Taylor arrived in 1975 the club was a mid-table Second Division club. All the clubs featured have a proud history.
  • Great video. Birmingham were actually the first British club in history to play a major European final. The final was contested over two legs in 1960 against FC Barcelona. Unfortunately we lost 4-1 in The Camp Nou (Typical Blues). We reached the final the following year in 1961, becoming the first British club to beat Inter Milan in The San Siro along the way, once again were defeated over two legs (4-2) by AS Roma in The Stadio Olimpico. We don’t have the trophies a lot of other Midlands clubs have, but we were pioneers for British football in terms of the European game. Great Video, enjoyed it.

The story of clough and peter Taylor is sad, they never got to make up in life and I only hope they are mates up there. Forever legends of english football!

Great video. Shame to see the state of midlands football. Imagine the premier league with albion, wolves, villa, Birmingham, Leicester, forest, derby
  • I’m a westbrom fan good to see u showing some appreciation for our club
  • Problem is Footballers would rather live in glamorous places like London or Brighton than the Midlands hence why Brighton, Fulham and Brentford etc are doing so good despite having no history

i think albion are a really underrated club. only EVER 2 seasons below the 2nd tier, top 20 in attendances in the last 10 years and have barely even been in the 2nd half of the championship. a lot of trophies too and founding members. the 4 way rivalry between the birmingham clubs, wolves and albion is so underrated. so much history between the 4 of them and all pioneers of english football EDIT: just watched the video fully and seen you might do another video on us. would love if you came to a game. although maybe when were better on the pitch

Only just found this video (I was at MK Dons game, love the vid 😉). How times have changed for Villa since this video was filmed. Nothing short of amazing since the appointment of Emery. Working with essentially the same squad that Gerrard had. Just shows what having a top quality manager does for a team. Loved the European games last season and it was a new experience for my son. Last games I’d been too were when Martin O’Neill was in charge. Been through some challenging times since he left but on the up moving forward and can’t wait to experience Champions League games at Villa Park. I was 7yrs old the last time we were in the top competition 😂 Love the channel mate, keep them coming 👍

Would love to see notts county back up there⚫️⚪️

As a Cov supporter its great to see a video on this. Most people seem to only recognise the north and south in football, where even the existence of the midlands as a region is ignored. Northerners think we're southerner, southerners think we're northerners, and everyone thinks we all talk like Dudley! The Midlands is a hotbed of football. Look at the Championship. 3 (WBA, Stoke, & Cov) of the 4 midlands clubs are in the top 8 of best supported clubs, and I'm sure Brum would if St Andrews wasn't falling down
  • Another awesome video, I love your passion and enthusiasm for football, it's awesome, I know 2 clubs that are older than notes county which are classed as football clubs but a different type of football
  • Super channel Sam! Liverpool FC fan here. Love the content. Actually, going to my first football match in years, Cracovia vs Lech Poznan on Sunday, hope it's a good one! Super happy I stumbled upon your channel! YNWA!
  • Nice work Sam. Really interesting look at these clubs. I guess they all have different reasons for their problems. Great to see the statue of Tony Brown. Always enjoyed watching him play and wonder how he escaped the clutches of the Manchester clubs. Terrific volleyer of the ball and a super, all round player.

Never really fascinated with football history until I saw this video. I have always found history interesting but watching this made me realise that it also is a part of pride of the area for decades and even a century. Great last few words there before ending the video. Nowadays you can just see fans around the world fancying the players rather than the identity of a club. You don't just pick a badge and cheer when they win, but you also sing and fight for your club.

love your passion brother ... really enjoy your videos man.
