Blender for Scientists - Polarized and Procedural: Wavelengths in Geometry Nodes

This video is a full walkthrough for using the CGFigures procedural wavelengths asset. This was originally intended as a compliment to the previously released 'common laser wavelengths' I made. Both assets are free on gumroad and are linked below.

Notes that didn't make it into the video:
1. If you set the amplitude to zero and use a signal multiplier node you can make some interesting animations where the wavelength appears from a flat baseline. (This is because the 'multiplier' node is actually additive)
2. The scale of these wavelengths is 10x greater than the 'common laser wavelengths'. If you scale the laser wavelengths up by exactly x10 they will match these if you want to compare them.

Amazing asset and a nice walkthrough! I can already think of all the places I can implement it - illustrating light paths, AFM signals and so much more just got a lot more fun to make. Thank you so much.
  • Thks ! ... eventually, ... i will try to use it to show electric production of a wind turbine, where voltage and amperage are variable with rotation speed !

This is fantastic! Would you know how to make the circular component opposite handed? I tested this and the circular polarrization animation always seems to be right haneded.

Thanks for the tutorial! A beginner's question, my lasers are pretty opaque, how do I make them glow?
