This conference took place in Luxembourg on 9 February 2017, and it was organized by LUCA.

During this lecture, Bertrand Schmit, Nadine Gutenstein, Hermann Esslinger and Stéphane Schmit – partners of architecture + aménagement - present the main features of their philosophy and their emblematic projects, such as the penitentiary establishment “Brenaz 100” in Geneva, the “Campus An der Dällt” in Munsbach, the Sports hall in Bridel, the CSSF new headquarters in Luxembourg and more.

architecture + aménagement is an architectural practice based in Luxembourg. In their vision, buildings, public spaces, interiors, or urban planning studies are projects that have a need or an idea as their starting point. Each project is site-specific. Depending on its environment and the client’s vision, they offer an intervention that is aware of its context: sometimes in contrast, sometimes in harmony, but never at random. For each project, they seek to identify and maintain a strong and rational idea. This translates into a shape, a volume, a combination of materials...It is not about creating a sculpture that we can only look at from the outside, but of putting in place concepts to both coherent and functional.
