In this video we are building the gas tank for this mini Baja Bug project. I decided to put the gas tank in the front above my feet because that was the best place for it. we are building a Mini Baja Bug using a Polaris XLT 600 two stroke snowmobile engine and a go kart fiberglass body of a VW bug.

  • Awesome aluminum work! The one inlet is not enough your feeding 3x38mm carbs do a twin setup.
  • @3dsxsdesigns78
Just a small rule to go by , 2 stroke is gonna use 2 times the air of a 4 stroke of the same cc . That is not enough air at all for that motor, like others have said , do 2 intake pipes and it will even out the air to each carb.
  • I personally don’t care if you do fifty videos on this build it’s an amazing project and you should definitely be proud of your work! This is better than any type of buggy that someone could commercially buy! Yet again truly great build ❤
  • The tank looks great.👍🏼 Maybe Vent the cap with a ball bearing valve with one of those brass filters like on pneumatic valve, to keep the dust out.
  • I can just imagine what you could do with a bigger shop concrete floor and a frame jig !! Your skills are getting better and better. Good job
  • @griffinwicke981
Looks great! Be really cool if you machined a VW logo into the gas cap, since that's where the logo is on an old beetle.
  • @Davespackey
All the custom shit you’ve made for this is amazing.. that tank and airbox are works of art lol.. hopefully the airbox isn’t to restrictive.. can’t wait to see it done!!!
  • @mikebarriball
I've been watching for a few years now, I don't usually leave messages but I am very impressed with your work! I also watch Grind Hard Plumbing. the aluminum work and the welds were so nice, keep doing what you're doing because you are killing it, my guy!!! ✌️
  • PERFECT opportunity to run dual flex hose 2.5” to a manifold behind your roll hoop with a filter inside. 100% old school Baja buggy look. Get that filter up in the clean air path and look legit! Nice work Chris.
  • @JeffBarker
Your skills just keep getting better, that gas tank is nice.
  • @thomas-sc9jw
I agree with the twin inlet idea... Also don't put the filter behind the radiator, intake air temp is a concern 🥵
  • I think you should put a second inlet neck with a second intake tube and air filter on that intake. Just thinking about how fast a 2 stroke sucks air into all 3 cylinders vs a 4 stroke that has delays between cylinders per se, with time for the 2 extra strokes between intake strokes.
  • @felixspence9014
those two cylinders closest to the actual inlet port are going to be much more lean than the third being far away
  • @Enigma-Sapiens
Great job Chris, that fuel tank fits in there perfectly and it "fits" with the body style as well!
  • @bellringer4515
Such a smart guy, and a very good welder. Everything homie touches turns into a masterpiece.
  • @ManiacRacing
This is the build I like the most out of all your stuff. It's like a rideable version of the RC VW Beetles, a scaled up RC car
  • @hemidart7
Well that was a good idea for the tank spot....looks good!
