My therapist recommended a really great book on this topic called “Anchored” by Deb Dana — for anyone who would like to dive deeper into these concepts.

Starting a new semester tomorrow can't wait to use these techniques for a smoother, more focused fall!! Love your videos

I thought your explanation was one of the clearest and most practical that I’ve seen-it takes the concepts and gives simple steps to put them into practice. I’m just learning about these different nervous system states, and I think I’ve been in either a disassociated or anxious state most of the time for decades. You explain so clearly how this leads to feeling like I can’t control myself or build better habits and why I compulsively do things like watching social media. Thanks ❤

I’m so glad the algorithm led me to your channel. I’m in a similar point in my journey to self-parenting and self-regulation so I definitely needed to hear this.

Thank u sm for this! I have been in this shutdown state for as long as i remember and yes there have been points when I realize that it’s time for a change and enough is enough, but at the end nothing happens. For my first 2 years of uni i’ve been in this state and as a result my grades have suffered and so has my mental health. I am now going into my third year and something has to change. I cannot live like this anymore. So thank you very much for giving me this push because I will actually put in the work! And thanks for that message at the end, to start small. I think that was my biggest issue, I thought i could change overnight and that was really overwhelming. But no, one small step is enough! And all those small steps u take build up over time and eventually you’ve changed without feeling overwhelmed all the time. So thanks for this again and I will be using tips! <3
