Luke: "I can't kill my own father." Kylo: "Hold my beer."

You really can't be mad at Obi Wan for not revealing the complicated truth to Luke early on, when his father Vader played a huge part in killing the Jedi off, also killing Luke's mother Padme, the younglings, etc. If Obi Wan never hid Luke and Leia away from the Empire, there wouldn't be a SW saga. After Anakin turns evil, Obi Wan basically becomes the godfather of the Skywalker twins, watching over them from a distance. That shows that he truly cared about Anakin all along, who was like his younger brother all that time.
  • I love how obi wan tries to keep Luke's sister a secret but he realizes immediately that it's leia

Luke, did I ever tell you about the high ground? I used it to dismember your father and watched as his disfigured body slowly sunk into a lava river, searing the flesh from his bones. He was a good friend.
  • "I can't kill my own father" I can attempt to murder my own nephew in his sleep though.

Obi Wan : That is the reason why your sister remains safely anonymous. Luke : ...Leia. Leia is my sister. Obi Wan's inner thoughts : FUCK!

Luke reminds me of Padme. Although only movies and make believe, I am sure Padme was proud of Luke for also seeing and knowing there was still good in him.

"You were our only hope....because even though I was only in my late-30's at the time, had handily defeated Vader at the very peak of his powers and he was subsequently reduced to a lumbering brute dependent on a life support suit just to stay alive, I just couldn't bring myself to do my own dirty work. So instead I kept you hidden for two decades and then misled you about Vader because tricking his own son into committing patricide just somehow seemed less painful than killing my old friend and student myself." "As for your sister, well, she was a girl, and a princess, despite the fact that she was a secret rebel since her mid-teens and would have probably been easier to train. It just seemed preferable to keep her as a safely anonymous backup in case you screwed up. Oh, and while I can chime in from the afterlife whenever I think it's necessary, I didn't feel I had to when you two got to first base. What can I say? We old school Jedi were raised in what amounted to a giant monastery. Our attitude towards sexual morality is understandably messed up. But rest assured, I would have never allowed things to progress to the point where you would have married her. Oh, did Yoda not mention that Jedi aren't allowed to get married? Surprise!"

Obi Wan in Episode 3: "I can't kill him. He's like my brother!" Luke: "I can't kill my own father!"
  • @VanaeCavae
Well Yoda failed in his training of Count Dooku.

Bill Clinton " I did not have sexual relation with that woman" well it was true from a certain point of view

Episode 4, Kenobi hands Luke the light saber: "Your father wanted you to have this, when you were old enough" "I stole it from your flaming, dismembered Dad while he screamed curses at me, but he really DID want you to have this." "Certain point of view" my ass.
