The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4's big brother is due for a November arrival, with the new 718 GT4 RS currently excelling during final testing on mountain roads as well as the tracks. Impressively demonstrating its dynamic potential, brand ambassador and development driver Jörg Bergmeister lapped the 20.832-kilometre Nürburgring-Nordschleife in a lightly disguised production car in
7:09.300 minutes, and the shorter 20.6 km in 7:04.511 minutes – that's 23.6 seconds faster than its little brother.

I wonder if test drivers ever get bored of their jobs. Like... they wake up in the morning and just stare at the ceiling for 10 minutes, thinking of excuses to avoid going to work. No. I don't think so, either.

Now finally we see what the Cayman Chassis is able to do with plenty of power. 👍🏻
  • @Shmee150
Who would think that a little road-going Cayman could be so close to 7 minutes! Beyond excited for the full reveal of the GT4 RS, hope to see one in my garage next year and for many Nurburgring laps ;)

The one I have been waiting for!! did not expect 9krpm Holy Moly!

Finally proper gear ratios…and the Sound ♥️
  • @thomasz3192
    Comparing the gear ratios of 718 GT4 RS: 1st gear: ? 2nd gear: ~108km/h 3rd gear: ~156km/hr 4th gear: ~195km/hr 5th gear: ~233km/hr 6th gear: ~275km/hr Against the 718 GT4 (PDK) 1st gear: 73.1km/h 2nd gear: 124.7km/h 3rd gear: 172.8km/h 4th gear: 219.3km/h 5th gear: 264.4km/h 6th gear: 324.4km/h That's almost 25% shorter gear ratio in 2nd gear! Also, it appears top speed is going to be achieved in 7th gear instead of 6th gear as we briefly see it hit 286km/hr in 7th

When I grow up I'm going to have a Porsche, I'll be back in a few years

Revs to 9k and sounds glorious, must be the GT3 engine!!
  • @melbguy1
I'm impressed by the mid-corner grip of the car and how early Jörg could get on the gas. The car picks up like it's a twin turbo, yet it is naturally aspirated. I saw a top speed of about 283kph in 7th which is impressive. Awesome!
  • Corvette C8 & Porsche GT4 RS are really giving the exotics and hypercars something to think about. The gap keeps on closing. 😁
  • That noise from 8-9 is so special. The noise form 7-8 on my 718 GT4 feels special already, I can't imagine what that extra 1000rpm sounds like in the car
  • "If it's the last hurrah of the internal combustion engine, might as well go all the way" - Porsche Engineers (probably)
  • @thomasz3192
Woah... 2nd gear tops out around 108km/h and a ~9k RPM redline? That's a significantly shorter gear ratio! Porsche's not holding back anymore 🔥

The last 500 rpm man, im shivering - that sounds sooooo good
  • @kaybird
this has to be top 5 best nurburgring lap of all time. the sound is ridiculous. lotso love from South Africa

I have always said the Cayman was a great platform. It has a natural balance you can feel when driving.

Absolutely mental. I was cornering on my couch in those high speed sections
