TRT World spoke to locals that witnessed the far-right riots outside Southport Mosque earlier this week, which was targeted over misinformation campaign online that falsely blamed Muslims for the killing of three children. However, after far-right riots against Muslims in Britain, police revealed the identity of knife attack suspect as 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, born in UK to Christian parents. Locals talk of the communal solidarity shared amid these combined tragedies.

The attacker wasn’t even Muslim… It’s crazy how quick people believe lies.
  • Now they should hold those who spread misinformation to cause this hate accountable, they are the real villains here

There was absolutely no connection to the mosque with the crime that took place. How much of a follower do you have to be, to violently attack a building because of what "other people said." Which turned out to be completely false accusations. Thank you to all those who came to help the mosque afterwards, you have good souls. RIP to those little innocent girls who were brutally murdered, and who's vigil was wrecked because of the rioting adults. People need to stop listening to others and start being smart enough to do some research first. Gossip is not a reliable source.

And the attacker was a Christian as usual, yet they blame it on a muslim and don’t even apologise!

Beautiful this is what Jesus taught neighbourliness not hate and that is what saves lives and stops wars, someone show American politicians this

This is so awful, the hatred and violence totally overschadowed the death of the little girls. As muslims we feels so sorry for 3 lost innocent children, yet it feels like almost the whole world doesn't care about the 16.000 lost innocent muslim children
  • What's scary is the power of misinformation.and the ego of racists.😢
  • It's inspiring to know that ordinary working class people stand together against the fear and hatred stoked by fascists.

Lovely to see a comment that isn't full of hateful right wing bigots. Yes, love will always win, you can riot all you want but you will never defeat love.
