  • There is nothing more joyful to watch your Golden run around, living there best life, once the lead comes off.
  • My golden is SO allowed on the couch and the bed. She doesn’t sleep with me on the bed but that’s only because I’m a light sleeper and she’d be waking me up all night. But I get down on floor with her when she is napping and kiss and squeeze on her. She responds by lifting her back leg for a belly scratch. Sometimes I can’t believe how much I love her.

4 things my Golden loves (and this is just the tip of the iceberg)...1- a ride in the truck. 2- a ride in the Razor. 3- a run along side of my 4 wheeler. 4- Going snowmobiling. I do have the luxury of living up in the mountains of Colorado, away from most civilization.

I've tried the hide-and-seek thing with my golden; he eventually started whimpering and I had to come out of my hiding spot and give him cuddles😢 Miss him a ton 💛
  • I love it when my golden sleeps with me. She hogs the bed a little but I like her close.
  • I am in my mid 50s and have had dogs since I was 2yrs old. My dogs till now were a GSD, a ROTTWEILER and 2 DOBBIES. All lived between 10-13 yrs. Didn't want to keep more dogs after my Ebony passed away 4 yrs ago, but Fate had other ideas. During the 1st wave of CoVid, my younger daughter brought home a 6 week Golden Retriever pup who was rejected by a family who had booked & paid the breeder but then backed out I protested and said that I would look like a wimp with a Goldie puppy. In 3 days Luna (she's a yr old and chewing on her toy) had me wrapped around her little paw.🥰😍

My golden loves hide and seek. She also loves going on adventures. There’s nothing better than seeing your golden having fun being free.

I have had a number of goldens and some other dogs over my long life. All are allowed on the couch and in bed. The bond is exceptionally valuable to me. One thing I have recently identified to change my behavers to the better and to improve the bond is to check any impatience related to them that I may exhibit when with them. I noted when I was under stress and they came to me there were times I was not so welcoming. I began to notice the way they reacted to me and I decided that was my fault. Now when my golden comes to me for any reason I make a conscious special effort to happily acknowledge them and enthusiastically welcome them. The results are outstanding. (Side note - it works with the spouse also.)

Our Golden will jump into bed for hugging and petting but after she checks on everyone she jumps on the floor to her bed where she will stay until we wake up. She also doesn’t like the couch. Her choice.
  • "Like they do when walking on a leash with you-" confused puppy golden retriever owner

Goggles for in car with windows down and going fast. Still gets all the smells and its funny when the lips/gums flap in the wind.
  • I don’t have a golden retriever but I watch these for the cute puppies

Careful with open windows. I once had a lab that jumped out of my moving car and the window wasn't even halfway open. I couldn't believe it. She was ok though
  • Our (5-months old) Goldie certainly loves to run free off-leash, and I have no issues with the sniffing part, but then she would just pick up and swallow any piece of garbage she can find on the floor (including leaves and twigs and other less decorous things!). Everything about her is just so adorable and funny, but that's the one behavior we need to change for the sake of her own well-being, that we are still struggling with. Is it the same will all goldens? Cheers and keep up the great work!
  • In the UK, the dogs have to be clipped into the car so they are restrained. This is UK law. But our goldens are spoilt rotten. In the unusual UK hot weather we are giving them yoghurt in their dry food rather than gravy. I sit on the floor so the dogs frequently come to me for cuddles (pets).
