Red Velvet had a stormy debut because of many bad things about SM Entertainment at that time: One of the worst things that directly affected and created Red Velvet's VERY difficult debut period was about senior f(x) major comeback at that time: In 2014, f(x) had a comeback that SM put a lot of effort into promoting. It's f(x)'s 3rd full album - "Red Light". Yet two weeks into the comeback, something seemed to be wrong. Sulli disappeared from music shows and f(x)'s schedule also disappeared with her not long after. SM revealed that Sulli was taking a hiatus from the entire entertainment industry and all f(x) activities would be canceled, ending the “Red Light” promotional cycle before it could even plateau. Needless to say, MeU (f(x) Fandom Name) was extremely angry, disappointed that the other members couldn't continue with the comeback, and even angrier that SM went full speed ahead with upcoming promotions of the new girl group that we already knew today - Red Velvet. Of course, MeU's relationship with Red Velvet is extremely negative. They think that Red Velvet is a replacement group for f(x). But I have to sympathize with them, if I was a MeU at that time, how could I be happy then? Things only gradually calmed down when f(x) next comeback in 2015.

The context to this hate was RV was debuted by SM in a turbulent time mainly to cover their issues of the main gg of the time girls generation which had a member departing at that time,also the gg f(x) fans thought that sm had now a new gg they will ignore f(x),SM was so evil that they dropped RV at a time when every sm fan was on sm for it's mismanagement so they started to hate rv too,to this day sm never treats rv the way it should've they barely get promotions,nor they get attention for schedules as given to bgs,imagine having best idol grp alive and you still mess them up,frustrate the girls and reveluvs alike.

Cant understand people hating any group, or specific member even when members themselves love each others. RV is to me the music team that you can have once in a lifetime. Now they are my religion and Happiness. Deeply thank you for watching this video.

I really admire the maturity of ReVeluvs when aespa debuted. They never attacked the girls or say bad things about them. RV's debut was a hard time for the girls and their real fans. SM Ent. was a total mess that time with all the scandals and issues around the company. RV was like the punching bag for all SM stans that was frustrated by the company. People even speculated RV's debut was rushed just to cover up the bad things going on with SM which connects to why Yeri did not debut with RV last 2014. That rumor may be true or not, I'm still happy Red Velvet debuted and still making amazing songs up to this date. I am a fan since debut and I have no regrets stanning them. I witnessed their ups and downs. I grew up listening to their songs. They are part of my youth.

I've never seen this video but I did see that Knowing Bros and some of the clips and stories of the hardships they have gone through, but you know seeing it put together in this edit still really was so moving and it really put it together about how hard it really was for them. I heard about the f(x) context, but seeing all the comments made it more tangible.

The video failed to mention this crucial detail around their debut: the production team messed up Red Velvet's debut MV, the Happiness MV. There were inappropriate depictions, including references to the 9/11 attack and Japan atomic bombings. Like I said, I love Red Velvet from the get go, but I also used to be a fan of f(x) too so I kinda get where those toxic comments were coming from. Back in 2014, f(x) fans (MeU, although in 2014 the fanbase didn't have a name yet) harbored discontent toward SM for their management of f(x). Red Velvet debuted during this turbulent time, and yea, unfortunately bearing the full brunt of MeU's disappointment. The gorgeous ladies have been through a lot and are now rightfully considered one of the nation's prides 😭
