I always like making tools, especially hand planes but these little finger planes were a super fun project.

There's something almost magical about a craftsman making his own tools. Also, I really like the diversity of projects you do here, everything from restorations to creations in metal and wood, and all of them well-made and interesting to watch. Excellent channel, Mr Pask!
  • This video proves why you're one of my favorite creators on YouTube. You have all the big boy toys but you take the time to demonstrate that it can be done with common hand tools. Plus your videos are absolutely amazing, why I've been a subscriber for many years now. Cheers

This is the cutest wood working tools I have ever seen. The flat bottomed one could also be used for sharpening your pencil. Great "little" project.

I love that you have consistently gone out of your way (literally doing projects twice) just to show that basic hand tools will do the job. I think if more content creators did that it would inspire even more makers who otherwise would think they can’t afford to make things

Of all the maker channels I've watched over the years I don't know how yours flew under my radar for so long. Fantastic work as usual.

Neil, if you haven’t already discovered Ken Parker’s Archtoppery YouTube series, he’s posting free videos of his expertise (that he should frankly be charging for), and they cover every part of his legendary hollow body building process, from making custom tools to his wild machine setups for his intricate builds. Love how your planes turned out and can’t wait to see them put to use. They are 100% missing a maker’s mark! 🥰

Looking forward to the guitar build Neil! I've just started a cigar-box style guitar myself, and I agree, luthiering is hard! Looking forward to see where the mini plane comes in, but i have a hunch 👌

Of course you know how to make your own tools... Those are the cutest lil planers I've ever seen!

Those punches do look pretty slick. Beautiful finger planes, love the passion. Another solid build, Pask.

Your attention to detail and your determination are unmatched. I love it.
  • I've seen some amazing builds over the years on your channel Neil and they never fail to amaze me no matter how many times I watch them. Absolutely wonderful little planes mate.

Great project/video. On a side note, the wife started a YouTube channel 6 months ago. I never realized how much goes into you making your videos. All the money you spend on cameras, computers, editing software, time filming, time editing and uploading, responding to comments, etc…I appreciate all your hard work across the board👍 You must spend a great deal of time doing this. My wife spends over 8hrs just to create a 30min video. Plus we just had to spend another couple thousand dollars to upgrade her computer because her old one kept locking up…couldn’t handle all the data. I don’t know what you have invested in your equipment but I’m sure it isn’t cheap. Thank you again for a great video my friend 👍🙂 I have a new appreciation for what you do.

Thank you! Got my Marker Knife in the post very quickly thank you love it
  • Oh dear! I can feel another plane build coming on. Thanks for an absolute masterclass in tool making, and being such an inspiration.
  • @quietspacearts
i love that you show your mistakes and learn by them and give solutions, great job, thankyou for being authentic
  • @GRichardWrotten
Between you and Izzy Swan I have learned so, so much about jigging, but that thing you did for the finger holds on the belt sander is absolutely the smartest bit of jigging I have ever seen. I can’t wait to find a reason to use it in one of my projects.
  • @byOldHand
Neil thank you, I had great time while watching as always. Both of them seems very good. Happy new year.
  • @Vickie-Bligh
I can't say enough how much I enjoy watching you create. This was really fun, Neil. Thanks for sharing your shop, skills, talents, and abilities as well as your encouragement with us all.
