"The most unworthy best picture winners" - I'll give you an easier answer: 'Shakespeare in Love' beating 'Saving Private Ryan.'

The problem with Cuties was that in its attempt to criticize the exploitation of young girls, it did exactly that. How are you gonna decry the very real issue of sexualization of minors by hiring minors to act sexual on screen? Make it make sense.

  • I'm surprised Avatar: The Last Airbender isn't on the list. I thought that movie got a lot of fan backlash (deservingly so) for being an awful adaptation of an amazing animated series.
  • @blitzkrieg230
I'm surprised "A Clockwork Orange" didn't make an appearance
  • Decent list, but not sure how Monty Python's Life of Brian did not make it. The movie was banned in several countries and was heavily criticized by Christians globally. It was even marketed in Sweden as, "The film so funny that it was banned in Norway" !

The backlash for Ghost in the Shell was a perfect example of ignorant people getting offended on behalf of people they didn't understand and insisting they were right. It's right up there with anyone who uses "latinx", though that's a bit worse. At least GitS is fiction.

I would've included Dragonball Evolution. To me, Avatar was a rip-off of Poul Anderson's short story, Call Me Joe, and Cameron could've at least acknowledged that.
  • Now that we have several years away from the furor..I feel comfortable saying ScarJo was actually a good physical match for the lead in "Ghost in the Shell"..she was an android so race shouldn't have been a factor in the casting at all.
  • What about “music” because it caused a lot of backlash with the autism community why isn’t that at least a dishonourable mention

I loved Juno! It was funny and pretty realistic in terms of the conundrum of teen pregnancy. I think it would've been criticised whether Juno had the abortion or not. As for Mother, I HATED it. It was confusing and the scene with the baby made me throw up.
  • I think the one thing I remember most when looking back to "Passion of the Christ" was the South Park episode in which it centers around the different perspectives of audiences that watched it. The funniest by far was Cartman taking advantage of people gullible enough to unknowingly speak German...while he dressed up as Hitler.

I do believe that Mr Mitch Hedberg said it the best. "You can't please everyone, all the time, and all of those people were at my show last night"

The biggest problem with the 2016 Ghostbusters is that for a movie that's supposed to be a comedy, it wasn't funny. I'm not knocking Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig or Leslie Jones, but even funny ladies like these cannot make lame jokes or a bad script funny.

Kids should be shown in health class in high school. It’s a good portrayal of what being sexual active and drug use amongst kids. I will always say that kids should be shown in health class.
  • @normak35
Let's be honest, as ground braking as the special effects of Avatar were, it was basically the live action version of Fern Gully. Sadly, it didn't have the talents of Tim Curry to kick it up that extra notch. lol
  • My brother had a patient that was a titanic survivor and she didn’t like how they made everyone look. She had never shared her story before and my brother was in awe of her memory so many years later (he kept the woman’s name to himself and he said that her doctor had been on the other side of the curtain listening the whole time)
