We have no idea the new in between models to be rolled out. They will be robotaxi compatible, built on existing lines. So in my mind we believe cheaper than Model 3, or new product like a van. All guesses so far. The major impression I had was Tesla was disciplined and determined on the earnings call. A lot of speculation was a waste of time
  • Herbert.... The insurance angle is... You have "Level x" FSD Beta ... That is essentially a "witness" to any incident involving your vehicle. . When "The other guy" or their insurance company says "The Tesla (/driver) caused the accident" then "You" (Tesla) produce the "screen shot" recording of the incident.... Which will in "more than 50%" of cases show that "the Tesla" (you) were the innocent party, mainly because you had FSD (Beta!) as a backup. . That shifts the Bell Curve for other insurers, not in a good way. If they work on a basis "liable in ±50% of cases, then add a percentage to the policy for profit", the Tesla "witness" moves the needle by first preventing / not being involved the in incident at all, or being defensive and not causing or being at fault for the incident...... AND providing several levels of evidence. . You want the speed/ direction, acceleration of vehicles involved? Tesla has it. . If the Tesla system moves that needle to even "60:40" from "50:50", the profit element is removed from other companies as their liability increases. (They go bust) Or, they Increase premiums as Tesla lowers theirs.... (They lose customers.... And go bust)
  • Why isn’t anyone seeing Tesla’s app. It makes so much sense for Tesla to develop an app that is a competitor to Uber. Tesla can give It’s drivers a larger discount on the car than the Uber driver gets ($3000). Tesla can also give their drivers more of the share of the ride share profits. Tesla benefits from more FSD data provided that the driver uses FSD. This is obvious.
  • A QUESTION DID Elon ever actually say . "We are delaying the compact car"? . I heard (Paraphrased) "We are working on "Unboxed" for future realease" . And we will introduce "Interim models" . Cheaper . Based on existing production lines (Which I read as existing vehicles .... Discuss) With Elements of Unboxed ..... Consider those interim vehicles? . If you want "cheaper", do you retool? No. Do you alter the process? Obviously, he said so. . Model 3 (maybe Y) . Front/ rear castings. BUT Move the finished castings to a different area in the building. BUILD All components onto the casting while positioned on an "autonomous transport" jig. Work on all faces simultaneously ("unboxed"!) What do you install? Suspension, steering (By wire!!) cooling/ other systems, control modules, BRAKES (by wire!) (Similar for the rear casting) . Pack/ interior? We know about that (with a few changes). . Bodyshell? Conventional processes/ tooling in place and amortized..... Cheap. . Then we look back to the Investor day presentation where they showed a Y(?) in "unboxed mode" . The body ("old style", complete) arrives at final assembly. Castings arrive on their transports 5 seconds later. Those transports postion with millimetre accuracy and locate pins on the body to the castings castings. Bolts provide rapid, permanent fixing. . "Standard" structural pack/ floor/ interior arrives and is bolted in..... THEN the looms of the front rear castings are plugged in to the "Pack module". The difference is, these now connect not just Data/ lighting, but steering and BRAKES. No Brake lines to run, fill, bleed. THIS is the second (faster) "unboxed" element. . Result? A "hybrid" or "unboxed 3" that's simpler and faster to build, so cheaper. . Other reductions? Single motor (obvious) . Power/ Torque mapped for economy. Lets say 0-60 in 6.9 seconds? (Just "because"!) . It's lighter, lower stressed, so take 10% off the pack capacity (say 50kWh?) . It's now even lighter. . Make certain things an option.... Like the sound system. (Aftermarket opportunity) . Skinny (cheaper, lighter) wheels and tyres? (Everyone else does it?) . Call it the "3e"? (Economy) . imo
  • So the question really is, when will Tesla insure FSD? If Tesla is willing to do it, then other insurance companies will probably follow eventually. If Tesla won't insure Robotaxis, given all their data, how could any other company even begin think about it.
  • Haven't watched your video yet but my read is that the end to end approach has been successful enough that they feel they can launch cyber cab in about a year and they will have a much higher profit margin than a cheaper(lower margin?) vehicle.
  • 1. Confidence of FSD being solved <2 years. 2. Less Osborne effect if Tesla's new cars are not replacements for Model 3/Y - initially Tesla won't even sell the Robotaxis, or only to fleets)

Seems to me you inch up to level 5 by having a radio network that allow a remote person(or committee or super-computers) to intervene in regions with good connectivity.
  • @francischan57c
Fsd is not ready for another 5 years. Ie no robotaxi. Delay compact cars will tank the stock.
  • @NirvanaHalen
The title of this video is a question that is never answered. Because, there is no answer other then complete bulkshit when it comes to “robotaxi”. Deep down these two know it but can’t admit it because they are either part of the meme stonk or just Tesla tech bros that think Elon is a super genius ( he’s not ). Either way, you can tell they are waking up from the robot taxi fever dream and questioning their own existence. The correct path is away from the dark star of Elons lies towards the light of reality, one step at a time, you can do it.
