My dad loves this song, loves Neil Young's music in general. When I was younger, I never appreciated it. As I get older now, as does my father, I find it hard not tearing up when I hear this song.
  • Once you're gone you can never come back, when you're out of the blue into the black. That line hits the heart every time.

"It's better to burn out than to fade away" It's been 30 years TODAY💔

One of the most haunting rock and roll songs ever made

I had 3rd row seats in Austin, tx in 1993 to see Neil. Spent all my $$ on these killer seats. Before the show I ate mushrooms. By the 4th song I was bugging out and had to leave and go back to the hotel. Still the best 4-song performance ever. Will never forget Helpless on the pipe organ. So wonderful

I grew up on Neil Young and I'm 37 years old. When my Dad was recently placed in hospice care I started listening to Neil Young again (takes me back to childhood). I'm amazed by how relevant his lyrics are still to this day. Just perfect music played perfectly. Thanks, Neil!

Happy birthday Mr. Young! My 8 months old son loves you too. He falls asleep peacefully every day with your music from his first day of life, My My Hey Hey and Harvest his favourite songs. Thank you for this and for all ❤❤❤

My uncle used to sing this song when he was on a bender. The bottle took him 12 years ago, but I still think of him and play this song. Some people don’t even know how bad they are hurting.

Best album of 1979. I first heard it in Berlin, Germany. I was down with flu in a dark apartment. Everyone went out to party. I put this record on, and I was mesmerized by it. It's some of the best rock ever, and it's kind of grunge.

“It’s better to burn out than to fade away” that line hits me hard

That harmonica solo at the end is truly one of the most powerful things I have heard in music. Especially 3:30-3:38. That 8 seconds LITERALLY sends me somewhere.
  • I miss you so much dad. This is our song now. Rock and roll can never die. Both in my heart forever. 💔

"They give you this, but you pay for that." Something we all can relate to decades later.
  • I've been sick for a month. Everyday I've been listening to Neil Young. It's helped my emotions. Rock on Young.🙏

There are so many versions of this song. But never was one as good as this one. Everything about it is perfect especially the dysharmony on many notes. ❤

My dad passed 6 days ago, he loved this song and would have it cranked, he would sing along word for word, cinnamon girl was next on his play list and man to him the speakers couldn't go loud enough 😔
