  • Great video alldata and identafix didn't show me where to set my cam after I removed the intake phaser but I was able to use your video as a reference to set my intake camshaft
  • @Kevinquynh
How do you know where to set the intake camshaft when it moved from taking the phaser sprocket bolt out? The sprocket doesn't have anything to lock it in place. The phaser have so much play in it?

Still haven’t found a good answer as to where to set the intake cam when putting the phaser on. Mine rolled forward when I took the chain off. My exhaust cam also moved counter clockwise a hair so the timing line was above the head deck. When reinstalling the chain, do I move the exhaust cam back to level? It looks like I’m your video, the exhaust cam line was where mine is currently (just above the head deck line). What to do?? There’s little to no info about this one out there. All data is no help. They say just take it off and put it back essentially.

This was a great clear video. What were you doing exactly with the 2 pry bars? Are you just loosing to be able to move or replace the chain?
  • @Stoically_
What were u doing when u were prying on the timing tensioner ? Did you not remove that plastic piece in order too free the tension?
  • Hi, this is a great video. I know this may not be easy to remember, but do you recall what size the Allen Wrench was that you used to loosen and tighten the phaser when you removed/installed it?

I'm a visual learner and was able to follow most of what you were doing. I have some questions as I have to replace this same exact component. 1) What were you doing with the two pry bars on the timing chain before you removed and replaced the CVVT motor? 2) I'm assuming the timing marks may or may not be lined up exact and that is why you have to turn the motor so that timing marks are aligned before replacing the CVVT intake part? Thanks,

I think This sonata is a six cylinders engine, is not it? I have had a look at a 2014 sonata’s 4 cylinders engine, it does not look like this one, I think there was only one plastic engine top cover covering both the camshafts pulleys and rods
