I love how free he is. He doesn't feel any obligation to act like a normal person who makes sense in normal ways-- everything is music, everything is rhythm, everything is experience, everything is art.
-
It took many, many years of listening to all kinds of music before I was musically intelligent enough to comprehend the depth and ability of this man's music.
-
2024! We need to appreciate originality!True expression! Brilliant art!
-
My dad described Al’s music to me when I was very young, as,”using your voice as an instrument.” He was not wrong!

Al Jarreau is the personification of jazz ... and truly a gift to us all. This rendition of Take 5 is mind blowing. What a legend, and he will be missed immensely.

Beat boxing before beat boxing was a thing. Rest well Al. You are missed.

Ladies and gentlemen you will never see something like this again! Times have changed and its becoming a lost art!
-
His Rendition of TAKE 5 takes the original to another dimension...✨ Al will never be replaced...🙏

The original Take Five by Dave Brubeck has always been my favorite piece of music. I just saw this version. My first thought seeing it before I listened was maybe it's not the same song. I mean how could anyone do a vocal of it, right? I was moved to tears. Unbelievable. Al Jarreau is a celestial being not of this earth.

This is the difference between playing music & BEING music!!

It’s like watching God create vibrations in the Universe using Jarreau as the vessel!Amazing!! A hit replay musical Genius!!! We are so fortunate to have the music he brought us to lift us up and bring us joy.

This. Is. AMAZING!!! 😳 Human body instrument collection!! Harmony, melody, horn/brass solo, percussion, keys, all in one. Definitely Bobby McFerrin’s inspiration. 👍

A good drummer. You won't notice. You won't be distracted from the song. Because a good drummer plays FOR the music and not for himself. Also, standing ovation for that dudes range. Ohhh Lordy
-
Wow, his voice is an instrument.
-
Who is here 2021? simply amazing NO JOKE
-
He really was a human orchestra... BRILLIANT!!!
-
You and physically SEE the music through this man. This is why I love jazz. It reaches down into you and grabs your soul by the throat.
-
Did anyone else forget to breathe because they were so immersed in this simply amazing music? We will never see talent like this again and I am glad I could be around to be part of it.
-
He embodied Music. Such a creative force with immeasurable positive energy. Rest Peaceful, Beautiful Mr. Jarreau!

40+ years ago a friend of mine worked at the Beacon theater and Al Jarreau was performing. I had never heard him before, only heard of him. I was there while he was practicing for the upcoming show and got to meet him backstage. Of course I stayed for the show. He absolutely blew me away. He was incredible!
