It's important to understand that "friendly" in the terms of cats may mean anything from quietly approaching you and selecting your couch for a night of sleep to playing hide and seek in the backyard. Before putting your cat in a social environment, learn about their interactions with people and other animals. Here are the top 10 friendliest cat breeds in the world that makes perfect pets.

Number 10: Scottish Fold
Scottish Folds are not just cute, but they're also flexible, kind, and affectionate. These cats are calm, placid, and not at all demanding. They'll be so willing to engage in all the activities that you'll quickly think they don't realize they're a cat, not a human. They get along nicely with other cats, dogs, and children.

Number 9: Exotic Shorthair
Because the Exotic is closely related to the Persian, it has a lot of their calm and sweet personality. The Persian cat, which is grown in nearly the same way as the Exotic Shorthair, is sweet, calm, and loving (except for its coat). Exotic Shorthairs are devoted companions that like spending time with their owners.

Number 8: Birman
The long-haired Birman, another blue-eyed beauty, is particularly kind, sensitive, and social. Birmans enjoy being around people and are excellent at interacting with both humans and animals.

Number 7: Burmese
Burmese cats are loving cats who want to spend as much time as possible with their owners. They have such a compelling attraction, according to the CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association), that they've long been recognized for converting individuals who believed they didn't like cats.

Number 6: Persian
One of the most popular cat breeds, Persians are recognized for their charming, gentle nature and lovely expressions. These long-haired cats love calm and peaceful environments, which makes them great lap cats.

Number 5: Sphynx
The Sphynx, often known as the hairless cat, is easily recognizable. They're extroverted, pleasant, and intelligent. They also enjoy being the focus of attention - they'll even get themselves into trouble just to make sure you're paying attention!

Number 4: Ragdoll Ragdolls are friendly, laid-back cats who like following you around. They are excellent lap cats and have been known to greet visitors at the entrance. They can even learn to play catch!

Number 3: Abyssinian
Abyssinians are one of the world's oldest cat breeds, dating back to Ancient Egypt. They're no longer known for being lap cats, but rather for being devoted friends that want to join you in whatever you're doing. Abyssinians are, on the whole, people-oriented and very intelligent.

Number 2: Siamese
According to the CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association), the Siamese cat is recognized for its stunning blue eyes, curious personality, and loving nature. The Siamese is the "ultimate people cat," according to the CFA.
They want to sit on your lap, on your bed, or at your table, and chat with you while doing so. They're also quite loud and chatty, with a wide range of noises to choose from and a tendency to meow at you to gain your attention.

Number 1: Maine Coon
Maine Coons are known as the gentle giants of the cat fancy, according to the CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association), because of their enormous size and tufted paws and ears. Despite their size, these cats are noted for being friendly with other cats, humans, children, and dogs.

After our two dogs passed and kids moved out my husband rescues a kitten at work. She was 16 ft up of 40 foot tree and the owner of the home said she had been up their for 5 days and he was going to shoot it. His two dogs , pit bull and German Shepherd had been at the base barking. My husband rescued her before lunch. The owner was coming around the house with a .45 when my husband was driving off. We took her in and she turned out to be half Maine Coone. She's huge and is the smartest cat I've ever owned. The vet couldn't believe we found her the way we did. She thinks she got out of someone's home. No one answered the Facebook posts. So she's ours.
  • "They get along nicely with other cats..." Then shows 2 cats ripping each other's faces off!!😆
  • Cats are very clever, lovely, friendly, smart, cute, adorable and lucky.

I love tabby cats, but other 'breeds' are wonderful too. That Abyssinian cat is absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I've seen one before. And Siamese cats are one of my favorites too!
  • Oops! Forgot the Bombay cat. The ones who follow you everywhere in the house. Rather than bonding with a single individual, they are affectionate toward everyone they know
  • I’ve had a Siamese for about 5 months and she’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever had and she loves my other cat

I would also add Chantilly Tiffany cat breed , they are so quiet, so friendly, smart, they would spend their time being on your knees all day long,

We have two spyhnx, two British shorthairs and a Siamese. The Siamese is a nightmare, the bsh are very antisocial and sphynx are just adorable monkey/chickens!
  • @mistofigo
I'll go for the Wilford Brimley cat

I've only ever had rescue cats, but two them were pretty close to purebred as far as characteristics go. One was a ragdoll. Or mostly ragdoll. Super, super friendly. The other is a Norwegian Forest Cat. He is also very friendly but has a very different personality. Neither cat has standard factory settings. They follow me around and listen to everything I say, no matter how ridiculous, as if it were the most fascinating thing they ever heard. Not at all aloof. Both "breeds", in my experience, are more dog like. The NWFC is not a fan of noise and chaos. At all. The ragdoll will tolerate anything.

Personally, all cat breeds can be friendly from the common backstreet cuties to expensive luxury Sphinxes! It could depend on how they were cared for when smaller.
  • Calicos are also very kind and affectionate I have one they like to play fetch and are kinda dog like but usually mine wants attention and acts like a kitten tho she is an adult she doesn’t like to be left alone calicos are also a great choice ❤
  • @SkaterPoopyPants
These are literally just premium cat breeds that people throw away money on when any old stray on the street would be just as a friendly if you treat them right
  • @kenb3552
I think the Bombay should be on this list.
