Swami Sarvapriyananda is a Hindu monk belonging to the Ramakrishna Order. He is the current resident Swami and head of the Vedanta Society of New York, a position he has been serving since January 2017. He grew up in Bhubhaneshwar in the Indian state of Odisha. From childhood onwards, he was inclined towards spirituality and was inspired by the lives of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. His family was also devoutly religious, who were initiated devotees in the Ramakrishna Order tradition. Swami Sarvapriyananda has stated that his first goal in life was to become a pilot and the second was to find God, with the second goal later becoming his only goal. After passing school, he completed his Business Management degree from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. Sarvapriyandanda joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1994 and took his monastic vows in 2004.

He was later appointed head of the Vedanta Society of New York, a position he has been serving since 6th January 2017. He was also selected as a Nagral Fellow for the year 2019-20 at Harvard Divinity School.

Sometimes dreaming and waking states can interreact with each other, once I was dreaming that I was a muffler and I woke up exhausted 😁, joke apart, thank you for your beautiful channel, with loving kindness 💜 🙏 📿
  • Namaskar Everyone 🙏, Thanks Swamiji and Amira for this beautiful gem. ❤

I'm scared of being alone. I mean truly alone like let's say yup I'm it it's just mean infinite conciousness nothing outside of me. That scares me, I'm not referring to everyday things I like being alone I've never been married. I have no children. I'm happy as I am truly. I have many friends I've had for 25+ years I know will always be there for me and me for them no matter what, who have children I think of as my own. I'm blessed... But grand scale just me, infinite conciousness unbound... What nugget have you got for me? 😅 Im serious. If there's no self also, what prescisely is it that is that experiences infinity. If self and God are one and one is God experiencing itself through infinite individual perspectives then surely its a nonsense to say there is no self. Without a self there is no infinite experience of conciousness for unbound conciousness. Without a self that infinite unbound conciousness is bound to not being a self which is a limitation in of itself

Unless dream state people are also conscious you cannot compare the waking state to the dream state. If the dream state is the same as the waking state there can only be one dreamer, and that would be the one typing this right now. So either this teaching is absolutely true and you are all projected images in my mind, or at best it is a flawed comparison, at worst a deceptive one.
  • While I must compliment you for your channel and thumbnails. It seems you are another modernist channel peddling neo Hinduism. For a true understanding of sanatan dharma it’s best to talk to acharyas of established sampradayas instead of cult figures like Sodaguru or people associated with the Ramakrishna mission. Also being both of a Punjabi H background what is your stance on the Khalistan movement and the mass exodus of Hindus from Punjab due to radical Sikh terrorism from the 1980s onwards?
  • I think you are spreading wrong. Here are some reasons why fear is important. Fear is an essential and adaptive emotion that plays a crucial role in survival and well-being Protection from Danger: Fear triggers the "fight or flight" response, which prepares the body to either face a threat or flee from it. This response includes physiological changes such as increased heart rate, faster breathing, and heightened senses, all of which help an individual respond quickly to danger. Learning and Adaptation: Experiencing fear can teach individuals to avoid dangerous situations in the future. For example, a person who has a near-miss while crossing a busy street is likely to be more cautious in similar situations later. Social Bonding and Cooperation: Fear can lead to social behaviors that enhance group survival. For instance, fear of a common enemy can unite a group and promote cooperation among its members. Cognitive and Emotional Growth: Overcoming fear can lead to personal growth and increased resilience. Facing and managing fear can build confidence and help individuals develop coping strategies for future challenges. Risk Assessment: Fear helps individuals assess risks and make informed decisions. It can prevent reckless behavior and encourage more thoughtful consideration of potential consequences. Moral and Ethical Behavior: Fear of social or legal repercussions can influence individuals to adhere to societal norms and laws, promoting ethical behavior and social order. Communication and Expression: Fear can be a way to communicate danger to others. For example, a person's fearful expression or behavior can alert others to a potential threat, prompting collective action or caution. While fear is important, it's also crucial for it to be balanced. Excessive or irrational fear can be debilitating and lead to anxiety disorders or phobias. Therefore, managing fear through healthy coping mechanisms and, when necessary, seeking professional help is vital for maintaining mental health and overall well-being.
