I said, I thought the players in the car played well. I thought Mason men looked extremely sharp. His movement were dangerous. He kept the ball back. His energy was infectious. I think from now on him and Bruno need to rotate that position. Bruno plays every minute of every game, can you imagine how much better he would be with the odd game off But I was concerned about the wingers. I don’t think Ahmed did any better than Anthony did for the first 10 minutes and then he seem to struggle a bit and look like he tried but it wasn’t coming off. I would say by the end of the game, no team clearly deserve to win, it was very

Need a other CB. Yoro is 18 guys dont rush him like that. With Mainoo,Bruno,Dalot, licha back in the Squad , we can build some routines

For half an hour, I thought we played fantastic. I was disappointed with every single wing we played. They look like they just couldn’t quite get a grip of the game but every player through the car of the team and left back in the right back brilliant then the injuries happened and it threw us off there again you mentioned the ball was inconsistent and not very effective. I would make the argument when Russ was on. It was brilliant when he went off it didn’t work, but the injuries concern

completely agree on the stop start, was a very weird game. Not a massive fan of these M2M triggers, I couldnt figure them out last night, but if its based on one or two extra touches, feels like it leaves rasmus/mount with a lot of extra running and arsenal with naturally more time on the ball. Some of the in posession play was quite nice and slick and you can see that EtH wants quick 1, 2 touch passing, playing quite direct, and going over the top when all else fails. I'm not opposed to this, but like you say, need some work on some consistent build up patterns.

Reducing this to 'united played long from buildup' is an oversimplicafion at best. There were some really good moments where we got through Arsenal's press and that includes 'individual moments ' from players. Why do we feel the need to consider carries in isolation? Every team that aims to play out from the back needs secure and creative ball carriers especially against one of the best teams like arsenal. If anything the credit for players being able to solve issues via carries should be seen as a huge positive and credit should go to the coaching staff who are the ones instilling it. You cant just always pass your way out of trouble and why should you? Yes we did go long a lot more in the second half but thats a clear indication of us fielding a second string lineup as compared to the first where they were instances of going long yes, but why shouldn't you when our rotations were creating imbalances for arsenal and our attackers found themselves in 1v1s against their last line. In fact, that's how hojlund scored. Clear quality shift from 1st to 2nd half, nobody seemed to panic in possession in deeper areas and it definitely felt like the game was played between two teams who considered the other as an equal as opposed to what we saw last season. Can we improve on the fiest half performance? Absolutely yes, but more context is needed.

Our build up looks exactly like how borussia dortmund does it. sometimes play the ball long to no one and lose possession unnecessarily. Definitely needs work otherwise it will be a tough season again
  • The reason we're all complaining is because we have a preconceived way united should play based on how pep, arteta, Alonso and co play. But ten hag said that's not what he wants to build. New buys could change that though. I honestly believe though that football does not have to be won a just one particular way, just be effective and be the best at what you do. So let's accept that our play won't be slow but fast, and attack attack attack.

Little if anything is learnt in preseason games. Certainly the results are irrelevant. These are marketing requirements for sponsors who pay big money for such events. It’s a working holiday for players and the value is in their training together and prep to be fit for the start of a new season. In many ways this is no longer particularly beneficial as international games (world cups, nations, euros) mean many of the top players aren’t available. Though one positive is that it permits fringe players and youth to be seen and potentially impress management and get more experience (big crowds / playing against and with more established players). The only learning for Man Utd is that squad rotation is key. Hopefully they will have enough fit players (from the start) in defence this coming season to be able to rotate… it’s the same for attack and midfield to be fair.

We also learnt that no matter who we buys they get injured 😂

our tactics 2nd half were poor, onana pinging it to antony and sancho was just silly and his distribution was poor anyway, at least push mctominay into areas you want to ping to and work from there. 1st half good.
  • @Imran-ie4hr
Collyer has good positioning and good desicion making sometimes
  • @youngd3ad593
Not too much to take from the 2nd half as none of the players we put out there in the 2nd half apart from onana will be startif next season. Shouldnt be too much of a concern that we currently can't play out of the back either as we dont have martinez, dalot and shaw either. I think to take from that game is that the first 30 or so minutes were bright with Hojlund and Yoro in the team and that we desperatley need an Ugarte like player to play as the deep lying midfielder and martinez, dalot and shaw back.

Started the game really well with some neat passes while building up. Rasmus injury seemed to have disrupted them. Started going long after that and lost control. But nothing to worry about I guess. Our most technical players are still not here. Licha, Shaw and Dalot will give us much needed calm and leadership in buildup. Maino will help us play through the middle. Mount had a really good game; honestly he is a lot closer to Bruno, hence we can afford to rotate them both and keep them fresh for every match. Amad's actual competition are Garnacho and Rashford, who looks like he is having a good preseason. I actually enjoyed his all action performance. He was everywhere on the left flank, getting some defensive headers as well.

Question. Do you think that's why Casemiro was dropped for the final? Because he wasn't disciplined enough to keep his position?
