I miss stadiums that are not named after corporations.

I do miss rivalries. Teams that just hate each other's guts and would fight before the game even started.

They called me Foo. If that segment was viewed by the wrong person today, they’d have to shut down the NFL.

I miss full backs ,real ones. And I miss the times when players cared if they lost . Nowadays after a loss it’s like they are all buddies laughing and joking around .
  • Defenses being on an even playing ability and Special Teams being special. Nothing else to miss
  • One thing I miss about football is the returns on every kickoff because it seems like 95% of kickoffs end in touchbacks these days!

I think the whole lack of real animosity between teams has a lot to do with free agency. Guys naturally (and, I think, smartly) don’t want to make blood feuds with teams when they know they aren’t gonna be on their own team forever. Why would they risk closing off potential avenues when the team they’re playing might be willing to sign them down the line? Whether you think that’s right or not is a different issue, but I think it’s no mystery why teams aren’t as bloodthirsty anymore.

Miss John Madden commentary. That is the only thing I miss. Football is better today than ever. Oh wait, I also miss when NFL films did legit Top 10 Lists.
  • I miss the power running game. Riggins...40Gut. Right off the guard.
  • @Dalton1294
A defender being able to sack a QB without getting a roughing the passer penalty for landing on top of him with all of or most of his body weight
  • That one thing about angry opponents is interesting. My take has always been respect the opponent, but go in there wanting to beat the crap out of them.

Real grass and fullbacks. Used to be that you could tell which team was winning just based on how dirty a fullback was compared to his halfback,
  • I also miss fare onside kicks. And the big hits. To me that is why players got paid so much to take the hits. Know quarterback can play for 20 years and break all kinds of records.
  • I miss no jumping around bringing attention to yourself after a routine tackle.
