Bed-Stuy's ICONIC DELI! Is David's Brisket House NYC's Best Pastrami?

When most people think of the iconic Jewish delis in NYC, they typically picture a Manhattan delicatessen. The iconic Katz's Deli comes to mind, as well as 2nd Ave Deli and Sarge's Deli, However, one of the most under the radar spots for the best pastrami in NYC and the best corned beef in NYC is David's Brisket House in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

David's Brisket House was originally opened as a traditional Jewish Deli but it was purchased by Yemeni Muslims. Rather than do away with the menu, however, they largely kept many of the original offerings. The menu is no longer kosher, rather it made the transition to Halal, but it still sells pastrami on rye, corned beef, and brisket sandwiches. They also added some Middle Eastern cuisines and we tried the Moroccan harira soup during this visit.

While a bit out of the way for anyone in Manhattan or commuting from out of the state like I am, David's Brisket House in Bed-Stuy is quickly building a reputation as one of the best old-school Jewish delis around, despite no longer being Jewish-owned and operated! I do not keep kosher or halal. I keep just one dietary restriction in life: Everything I eat must be delicious!

Nice to have you in my establishment. We carry multiple sizes. We make 4 different size sandwiches to consider everyone’s budget and also appetite. We are Halal and we serve Jewish style products.

@uaeats great review as always and appreciate your authenticity; my wife and I are obsessed with your reviews. Just curious, what is your set up for these reviews like mic, camera, and tripod? I travel for work for a living in a different state each day but also based in Queens NY with some of the most diverse authentic cuisine. Been wanting to do some food reviews.

David's Brisket House is excellent. I miss it. I used to eat there all the time, but it is too hard for me to get to now. People come from miles away to purchase their food. Glad you enjoyed it!

They used to have a Davids Brisket house in Bay Ridge. I loved their Brisket sandwich. Too hard to travel to know but after your review, I think I will travel there.
  • You don't drink soup you eat it , the soup is tomato based that is thickened with rice or vermicelli its meant to break the fasting during Ramadan hence its lighter healthy vegetable soup
