My father's journey began in the 1950s when he grew up and toiled on a modest farm, shouldering the responsibility of supporting his family during a challenging time when my grandfather developed Muscular Dystrophy. Even at a tender age, his resilient spirit and unwavering determination were evident. In 1960, at 18, he embarked on a new chapter, joining the General Motors assembly plant in Norwood, Ohio. There, he honed his craft and earned his stripes, later laboring diligently as a diesel mechanic for Complete Auto Transit, working on the very trucks that carried the automobiles for General Motors.
Officially retiring in 2004, my father could have easily embraced a life of leisure. However, his passion for machinery's intricate workings and desire to keep his mind sharp led him to continue working on boats and small engine equipment as a hobby. These endeavors have provided him with a fulfilling pastime and turned him into a vast reservoir of knowledge that I have been fortunate enough to tap into over the years.
As we discussed this project of rebuilding this Hydro-Gear transmission, I couldn't help but reflect on the countless hours my father has spent imparting wisdom and teaching me the intricacies of his trade. Each turn of the wrench carried a lifetime of experience handed down from generation to generation. The love and dedication he pours into his craft are awe-inspiring, and witnessing his passion firsthand filled my heart with immense gratitude.
On this Father's Day, I want to express my deepest appreciation for everything my dad has done for me. Dad, your unwavering support, guidance, and tireless efforts have shaped the person I am today. Your commitment to providing for our family and your unyielding dedication to honing your skills are testaments to your character and strength.
Thank you, Dad, for being an exceptional mechanic and a great father. Your love and wisdom have been a guiding light throughout my life's journey. On this special day, I wish you the happiest Father's Days. I am forever grateful for our bond, and I want you to know I love you with all my heart. You are my dad and buddy, and I cherish every moment we spend together. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
